Is there any love for us who live in CA as far as bourbon/whiskey related events and/or tastings, other than the Morton's Steakhouse thing? I've searched this site, the web, and other websites and cannot find a thing. KY has all the fun ;)

Ooops, I almost forgot. I'm aware of the upcoming event in San Francisco. Is there anything else or anywhere to check regularly?

Where are you? In San Francisco, there are a number of events. Malt Advocate now has its WhiskyFest there in October and Celtic Malts World of Whisky in March or April. You may be able to find local tastings at places like D&M Liquors. What's the upcoming event you're referring to?

Unfortunately, in Southern California, there is not really anything of this sort.

Ooops, I'm in SoCal.

The upcoming in SF I was talking about is the WhiskyFest, but I'd like to hear of some things in SoCal. Restaraunts, bars, festivals, bunch of homeless dudes passing around a new bottle... Well, maybe not that last one, but you get the idea.

Where in Southern California are you? Occasionally one of the liquor stores will have a whiskey tasting of some sort. I know Wine House in West LA has had them as well as Wally's in Westwood and Red Carpet Liquors in Glendale, but they are not very frequent.

WhiskyLive was going to do an LA event this fall, but they seem to have cancelled it.

Tell me when/where! I'm in Orange County, but have car and will travel. How do you learn of those you mentioned?

Wine House has an email list (www.winehouse.com). The others may as well. If you're in Orange County, you may want to check out Hi-Time Wine in Costa Mesa to see if they ever have tastings. (www.hitimewine.net).

Thanks for that info! I heard of hitimewine before, but wrote it off as exclusive to wine. After checking out their website, I'll be making a drive down there this week! Their prices and selection is very, very good. I only wish I knew this years ago. I could've bought that Lamborghini I've always dreamed about with all the money I saved, unless of course I bought more whiskey ;).

In SoCal, try http://www.sevengrand.la/

It's not an event but it's a damn good whiskey bar. I've been told that the bartenders know everything there is to know about whiskey and whiskey drinks. I've only been a few times and never actually ordered from the bar, just the waitresses.

I'm not much of an organizer but if anyone in SoCal wants to set up a evening meet up I'd go. I bet they'd even do some awesome tasting event if prodded.

SevenGrand looks like a great bar! I'd be willing to partake in some SoCal meets, but with my schedule I wouldn't be able to organize it either. Anyone else?
