Inver House Distillers named Distiller of the Year

Well I just found on the Web that Publicker's former Distillery's in Scotland Inver House Distiller's has been named Distiller of the Year over There. To me this is most interesting and I am glad as when Publicker sold them to the Managment team that had run them back in the early 1980's I was very glad to see this peice of the Publicker Industries Group survive! They still make many of our original Brands Inver House blended of course and Piwinnie, and many others. I found this on a site callled the Wee Scot news or something like that, so I am hoping to read more somewhere.

Thanks Jeff looks about the same as when we made it except we put it in a Heavy fancy Card board Box instead of a can always came in a Purple Bag way back from when Publicker first made it and always came with a small brass two sided metal which I have one of. I was afraid it would be hard to get in the USA, and I know this State would never have it! Thanks Jeff Again! It must have been very good when we made it as I found a bunch of Gate Pass's at the time Continental stopped making Whiskey for some of the Higher Ups to take some of the Pinwinnie in the Warehouses Home! Which was something they always did but allot of Pinwinnie left there those last days!

Jeff I was looking but it is around $50. just for Shipping but I am keeping that in mind as I see the Inver house group also still makes another great Publicker blend from the old days mac Arthurs Scotch and I am wondering if they still make Glen mavis which was a good one. Also They have the Martins VVO brand I think as Publicker had that and from what I had read all those brands went with the Distillerys. It is fun looking if nothing else. I have some brand new old stock Pinwinnie Boxes from the Plant, but Bought my medal and have not yet had the Pleasure of trying it. I did take your Advice on Sat when my friend from NY came down so even though the Phillies lost I had a shot & 1/2 of Glenlivet Scotch as you recomended Jeff! It was wonderful had it in a sniffer Glass great smell flavor and mouth feel!

GlenLivet is a good place to start with single malts....there are plenty of other styles once you've become accustom to its' profile. I hope you find some old Publicker labels available to you. Keep us posted.

Well with my Interest in finding a bottle of Pinwinnie and other old Publicker / Continental Distilling Scotchs made by the Inver House Distillers took me to the Pa State store and to my amazment they carry something other then Inver House Blended they carry a Single Malt Scotch made by the new Inver Distillers, and it is called " SpeyBurn 10 Yr" and I am siping some right now and finding it to be very nice. On Sat a friend took me to a fine resturante in Phila and bought me a shot of Glenlivet which was awesome. So I am now testing this one and so far finding it to be very Good! I am getting a kick out of being able to drink something like this from the old Publicker Stills in Scotland while I keep trying to Find a bottle of Pinwinnie just for the fun of it. It is very different from what I drink alot which lately is Old Forester Bourbon, but it is fun trying these things out!

This will not end my Love of Good Bourbon but it sure is fun! Also I am very Happy that Publicker was able to sell this piece of History so that it could continue, it is a tribute today to Si Neumans Idea's. Also If you have ever had this single Malt Scotch i would like your Opion.

The Inver House SpeyBurn 10 yr was very Nice and I would be interested in anyone else who has had it to reveiw what they thought of it! I ended up having another big shot of it and I find it to be smooth and sort of fruity with a nice malt smell. A very nice Single malt

I have a bottle, but have not opened it up yet. It seems to get mixed reviews, but generaly its regarded as fairly good, just not very complex.

Hey Gov I like it so far it has a very nice Flavor and rolls down very nice I will do much more testing but You should pop yours open and give it a try. I get a kick out of it being Inver House which was a part of Publicker who I worked for so many years ago let me know what you think!

When I first started to drink whiskey, 35 years ago, my drink of choice was Inver House. I can't remember why. Later I switched to Passport.

The Reason Chuck was Inver House was Very Good those Days that Continental Owned it and as the Old Ads said Inver was IN everywhere. Mr Neuman started a way for everyone to enjoy Scotch and at affordable prices, and we had so many brands those days, such as Glen Mavis, Heather Mist, Pinwinnie, Hallers Scotch, Mac Arthur's, Glen Flagger, Red Crown and many more and they were first rate then. I myself only ever drank Inver House for a scotch back then. It was a catchy sort of name and a great Product. Also the Best part was the name Inver House came from the Name Of Si Neumans Home in the Phila Suburbs Inver House! But when they owned it there were allot of Scotchs to try in the Pa State stores they sold all the Continental brands those days, not Wine World as they are today. Just heard an ad on the Radio yesterday how they are getting more Wine in the stores every day. Far as I care they can put it where the Sun don't shine!

It looks like the stills that Publicker installed have been shutdown since the mid 80's. The managment team bought the facility shortly after the stills went silent. I believe that the rest of the facilities(two) are continueing warehousing and blending operations. While most of their distilling is done at five other distilleries in Scotland. Their product lines appear to be very top shelf and have won some serious awards lately. You can find their info here.
