rmallen
Finally found Laphroaig 18 at one of the local liquor stores. At 69.97+tax here in Michigan, I could not pass it up. The same price as the Laphroaig 15 it replaced...and 3 years older, 48% vs 43% abv, and non-chill filtered. A great deal but I bet that price won't last, especially when I see the prices elsewhere.:bigeyes:I have too many bottles open right now, so I think I will bunker this one until I finish the bottle of Laphroaig 15 currently open on my bar. I'll save the last dram or two for a side by side tasting.

AVB
Hazelwood Reserve Janet Sheed Roberts was the last surviving grandchild of Wm. Grant founder of Glenfiddich and Balvenie. A special bottling of 20 yo 105 proof Glenfiddich was given to Grant employees and "friends" for her 100th birthday. That was the Centennial Reserve. For her 105th birthday another special bottling of 15yo Kininvie, the first single malt bottling of that distillery ever, was bottled as at 105 proof. Again, this was only for employees and "friends". Finally for Janet's 107th birthday a limited edition of 500 bottles of Kininvie was made available at Heathrow's new Terminal 5. That is the Hazelwood Reserve a 17 yo 105 proof sherry casked bottling. Probably not to many complete sets of the triplets in the world but I have one A special thanks to MichaelPCo and scthornton for their help in acquiring some of the above. I couldn't have done it without them.

JamesW
Picked up a White Horse, JWB, Caol Ila 12, Talisker 10. All favorites, never tried the White Horse before but I'm giving the blends a go these days after all our talk of them.
AVB
My Kilchoman Inaugural release came yesterday from France. I was too late in putting in my order when it actually was released and so had to hit the secondary market. Only paid a 50% premium which wasn't bad considering it is going for double or more when you can find it.

AVB
The 105 reminds me of the Balvenie Founder's Reserve 10 only a bit more citrus. There is very little if any Sherry presence even though it was supposedly Sherry finished. Besides the fact that it is the first single malt bottling of Kininvie there really is nothing special about it. I've heard that the 107 is better but I'm not going to open mine anytime soon to find out.

boss302
I picked up a bottle of Laphroaig 18-year today for a little under $60 at the local state store. At a healthy 96 proof, it seemed like a much better buy than the Lagavulin 16.I haven't cracked it open yet, but I'll give a detailed review when I do. Yes, they will ship to PA.AVB,Thanks very much for the tip. I recently turned up a bottle of Ardbeg Corryvreckan that I like, but don't love. Well, actually it's terrific but I'm not sure it's twice as tasty as an Ardbeg 10. I'm going to give the Airigh Nam Beist a try and see how it compares. I'm going to give the Airigh Nam Beist a try and see how it compares.according to Chu'Wuti, there are two distinct bottlings of Corryvreckan. One is earth-shattering and ridiculously incredible, the other one is solid, good, and wholesome... but not a devestating earthquake of peat on your palate.I was actually considering grabbing a bottle of Airigh Nam Beist for my mom, but now that she is a member here, she will probably see this without my help. We'll see. I think that might be a peat-monster I'll like.
