ggilbertva
Stopped by my local ABC and picked up a Aberlour a'bunadh, batch 29. When I got home I had no intention of bunkering it. I opened it and poured a nice healthy dram. I love that stuff.
unclebunk
I bought my very first bottle of Scotch last night - traded actually. I got a Compass Box Flaming Heart and gave up a Handy from my bunker. I had only occasionally finished a pour of Scotch previously so this was a breakthrough of sorts.
unclebunk
I went to the store with a completely different plan in mind (bourbon buying was the original agenda), but there were two bottles of Laphroaig Cask Strength on the Scotch shelves. I haven't been able to find it locally so far, and everything I've read about it has convinced me I needed to try it, so one of the two came home with me. This is one I've really been looking forward to, so I hope it lives up to expectations.Mike
dean_martin
Personally, as much as I love the Laphroaig Cask Strength, I prefer the Quarter Cask for some reason. I can't quite put my finger on why that is but I'll keep drinking and get back to you. Hope you love it, just the same. Thanks for distinguishing those. Now that you've mentioned "Quarter Cask", I'm pretty sure that is the one I've seen.

texascarl
Black Bottle is an excellent value. Isaly on the cheap! It is. And damned tasty for those of us who like that sort of thing. But I won't recommend it to all and sundry..it's already hard to find around here.
dean_martin
while traveling farther east along the Florida panhandle than usual, I found Yamazaki 12yo at $29.99. One bottle came home with me. I never expected to find this Japanese whisky within driving distance. Easy sales pitch for the wife: "oooohh, remember in Lost in Translation when Bill Murray's character goes to Japan to shoot a commercial for Suntory Whisky?"
