An Alchemist's indy bottling of Mortlach that was aged entirely in ex-bourbon barrels. Real unusual when Mortlach, like Macallan, is best known as a sherried whisky.

That's awesome! Have you opened it? I love trying the "naked" versions - it really helps me train my palate.

Got me another bottle of Laphroaig 10!

Classic! Although, I think the QC is my favorite of the young trio.

Highland Park 18 y.o. ...

I found a semi-dusty bottle of HP18 with an old sticker price of $78 not long ago. Current bottles have a different label and run around $95+ around here, so I was very happy.

That is a very nice find. Both on price and quality, from what I understand. As good as HP18 is, earlier versions are supposedly even better - I've only had bottlings over the past three years so I have no basis of comparison. Would like to hear what you think when you get around to opening it.

got lucky in our local store's lottery. My wife and I each won "the right" to buy a bottle of Ardbeg Day so I just added the 2 bottles to my bunker (still wanting to add a couple more)

I also picked up some Ardbeg day. I was trying to resist this one, but there was some dwindling stock right in front of me. I feel like I'm a sucker for (false?) scarcity. The initial reports are good though, so I'll probably thank myself later.

Power's Gold Label Irish Whiskey, one of the best whiskeys of any kind anywhere and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I was traveling for business last week and took the opportunity to pick up a Lagavulin Distillers Edition and a Lag 16 to replace the bottle that is nearly gone. A friend also found me an Ardbeg Airigh Nam Beist which I should have in my hands shortly - looking forward to this one as it has been a while and I remember the last bottle being splendid. I am also pondering pulling the trigger on a Port Ellen 9th, not sure yet though.

Between my affinity for rye and Islay SMW, I think I will start referring to my bunker as 'The Isle of Rislay'

Ain't that the truth. I have friends who turn their noses up to Powers Gold but I love the stuff and all the more for me, I say.

Gary, how would you compare the current Powers Gold with the Powers 12 Yr (not the John Lane, pure pot still, just the regular ol' 12 year old).

Hasn't happened yet but I plan on purchasing a bottle of 1997 Springbank K&L Exclusive 14 Year Single Madeira Barrel Cask Strength Single Malt Whisky tomorrow. My expectations are high since I love the 10 and 15 year standard bottlings.
