LostBottle
Been on a scotch buying binge lately ...Douglas of Drumlanrig Rosebank 20 yo, cask strength (Douglas Laing) - $130Lagavulin Distiller's Edition (1996) - $99Old Malt Cask Glenlivet 13 yo, cask strength (Douglas Laing) - $57I love the Lagavulin Distillers. I usually do not care for sweet and sherried whiskys, but it really goes well with the peat. In general, I think Lagavulin is my favorite Scotch whisky distillery and I rue the day I passed on the 21...now I will never find it.
bad_scientist
I rue the day I passed on the 21...now I will never find it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Sorry, oh wait, I'm not done yet !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Okay, got it out of my system. Have you had the latest release of the 12 year? What do you think in general of the 12 years? I didn't like the 2010 version all that much, but I think my tastes have changed since then. I bought a bottle of the 16 a few weeks ago and I think it's a bit too sherried for me, compared to my last one. Since the 12 is all ex-bourbon barrel, I might want to try it out again. That, and most are aged a bit longer and it tones down any medicinal/iodine phenolics a bit.I did read somewhere that the peat phenolics act something like the capsaicin in chili peppers - triggering endorphine release in the brain. So just like jalapenos at one time seemed really hot, eventually you are on to seranos, habeneros, etc. Eventually, the peatier the better! Clavius
Snatched up a Redbreast 12 Cask Strength.Mind if I ask where you found it in Lexington? I've been sort-of looking for it after reading all the rave reviews for it here on SB.
MyOldKyDram
Found it in Danville actually, at V the Market. Great little store that often has hard to find stuff, and the owner is just great. They do lots of bourbon and spirit tastings there.

BFerguson
Canadian Heritage 21yr old x2. One for me, and one for a new friend.Been staring at this one for some time, and finally found out a bit about it. Was told that it was very, very good. 21 year old, 100% corn recipe. Pretty excited to give this a go. Not something that you get to try that often, or ever. B

They do lots of bourbon and spirit tastings there. Unfortunately, that store will have less hard to find stuff going forward... Y'all, it really ain't any of my business, I know....And, it's admirable to help another SB brother out...But, PM is the way to go with these... z327
I decided to go on a dusty bottle hunt east of Dallas. Started in Terrell and ended in Kaufman. My wonderful wife navigated me to 11 liquor stores. Scored something in three of them. Found a 101 WT Rye (only 1 bottle in all 11 stores), a 2005 Russel's Reserve (hidden on a high shelf behind other brands and extremely dusty, a 1998 EWSB also dusty box and a Bookers (not sure how to read the label to get the year but it was dusty and I needed one for the collection so took a chance). The Jack 160 isn't very old, but had not seen it in Dallas and thought it would add to the collection.

AaronWF
I went to the store to pick up beer for my wife (she only drinks Coors Light; a shame because it's bland, a blessing because it's cheap!) and remembered that now that Bruichladdich is going corporate, I should stop putting off buying a bottle of the Laddie 10, so that's what I got. My open bottle cabinet is bursting at the seams at the moment, so I'll have to wait to open it, but I do have a handful of bottles with only a few pours left in them, so hopefully I'll be able to focus on them and steer clear of my fuller bottles over the next week or two so I can get to this Laddie!I also picked up a bottle of Caribou Crossing, Sazerac's 1B Canadian Whisky. That bottle has been on the shelf for a few years now, and it finally went on sale for $29.99, so I snatched it!
