Lagavulin 16. First bottle I've ever purchased! Expensive as hell around here but I had to do it at least once.

You been talkin to Birdman? He said it's really young as well, I enjoyed it at TomH's place when we were there and since I ran across it at a fair MI price I grabbed it.

Your welcome to drop in anytime Oscar, we'll open er up so you can make a call weather you like it or not!

Cheers!

Irishman 70, a superb whiskey which offers traditional flowery/grassy pure pot still flavours but tempered with some smooth, high grade single malt. Amazing value at about $40.00. I find the non-blended Irish whiskeys (this is more a vatting than a blend) can be inconsistent but this one delivers the goods and then some.

Found it for an exceptionally nice $50 a bottle.

Tom

That IS exceptional! That even beats New Hampshire prices. Unfortunately it runs $110 where I am now.

First time buying McLelland Islay. Not great but better than Black Grouse. Looking for some inexpensive everyday Islay pours. Next purchase may be Bowmore 12. Anyone like or dislike it? I loved the 17 yr.

If it had a name, I'd kind of expect McLelland Islay to be Bowmore 6. My money is on your Bowmore 12 tasting like a more mature version of McLelland, perhaps for good reason.

I actually picked up a Bowmore 12 for the same reason. I find it to have nice flavor. It does satisfy the need for peat and smoke, but does not satisfy the need for complexity. But for the price, it works....

I've always found Bowmore 12 to be quite satisfying and perhaps a bit under-rated, though I would agree that it is somewhat less complex than most Islays. Check it out.
