JamesW
Pretty well spot-on with this assessment. I enjoyed it at first but grew bored in time and probably wouldn't but it again. That's starting to be the case with me. In the end, the finish is too sweet and tiresome. JamesW
On the subject of good value, I picked up a bottle of The Singleton of Glendullan. It is a 12 year old Speyside malt aged in bourbon and sherry casks. Subtle and balanced with some fruit and warm spice notes. Quite nice, if unremarkable. It compares favourably against similarly-priced Scotches.I saw that today but passed. In that price range there are a few others I prefer.
Virus_Of_Life
While shoppers vineyard had it on sale with free shipping I ordered a couple bottles of Ardbeg 10. I wanted to branch out and try some different whiskeys, but this will definitely take some acquiring a taste for. My wife says it smells like stinky shoes. Virus_Of_Life
The Isle of Islay should probably be your last stop on your SMS Journey of Discovery. Glenmorangie 10 is my pick for a good starter SMS.

bigtoys
Finally got a bottle of Kilchoman!! Very light, guess that relates to only 3 years in a Buffalo Trace barrel. Very peaty!! I like.
TomH
I'm going to have to re-taste mine.....I thought the peat was a little light (especially for a 3 year old), but it did have plenty of iodine.Tom
AVB
Picked up a set of Balvenie Caribbean Cask and the Peated Cask. I'm thinking of doing a full on series of the Balvenie RumWood, RumCask, Golden Cask, Cuban Cask and the Caribbean Cask. Although I'm 99% sure that the Golden Cask and the Caribbean cask are the same thing just renamed for different markets. Just gotta find the day when I won't be doing anything else. AVB
I did a review of it here about 5 years ago if that helps.I picked a bottle of Auchentoshan Triple Wood, for no other reason than I have never tried Auchentoshan before. I probably won't open it right away. Can anyone give a little insight as to what to expect?
unclebunk
Just received a bottle of Tyrconnell Single Malt Irish Whiskey from a friend which I will sample in the next few days. I hated Cooley's blended whiskey Kilbeggan (and can barely tolerate Michael Collins) but enjoyed the Connemara so I have high hopes for this bottle. birdman1099
I picked up a Glen Devron 12, 1978 vintage. It was an impulse buy. It looked old and out of place and at a good price point. I cannot find much info in it.Anyone know anything about this one?

TomH
Just got back from the NYC area with several new bottles and an empty wallet. In addition to retrieving a previously purchased and stored case of Lagavullin (while flying around on Jet Blues all-you-can-jet pass), I picked up 3 Supernova, 3 Corryvreken, 3 independent 11 YO Bowmore's (distilled in 1989), 2 Compass Box Lady Lucks (bottled for Park Ave Liquors) and a Compass Box new Flaming Heart.Tom
snakster
Bought three bottles of Wild Scotsman 15. Closeout here in PA; they're practically giving it away. I suspect the stocks will be gone in soon. it's only in two stores now. Fortunately both near my house. I almost feel like I should have bought more. I had gotten a bottle a few months ago and it's a nice pour. Very easy to drink.
