Jono
I wish it was bottled at higher proof, at this one is at 80, but it should be a nice pour. I like peat at certain times, cold evenings outside etc. But this should prove interesting in that other flavors can be detected and appreciated (I hope). Megawatt
Glen Breton Ice 17 year old cask strength. Pretty expensive for a 250ml bottle, but I had a gift card so I figured what the heck.
ebo
I'm on my way to get bottles of Laphroaig 10 and Ardbeg 10. I've been without either for too long.... and we can't have that!
BigRich
Christmas brought me a bottle of Balvenie Caribbean Rum Cask.

I wish I could find another bottle of Laphroaig 10 here. I just killed my bottle last night and will be needing another. But nobody seems to have any. Is there a shortage or something? clingman71
I bought a bottle of John L Sullivan yesterday. Pretty simple and straight forward, got a little honey vanilla thing going on with some graininess. Good, inexpensive, I can see this being a pour with friends while telling war stories, some true, some embellished, while listening to some Chieftains or Clancys and not fretting over how quickly the bottle is disappearing. I sure hope it hasn't been taken off the list for Ohio.
sob0728
I am looking to get into scotch a little bit, they have Laphroaig 10 (which a lot of people seem to like) by me for $38.99, is that a decent price?

I saw some old batches at a local store for $50, but if it's a typical sulfur sherry bomb, I don't want anything to do with it.
Special Reserve
Laphroaig has a unique taste. At $38.99/bottle I'd buy several bottles. My suggestion is buy one then immediately taste test it, if you like it go back and buy what your budget can afford. In MI it it >$50/bottle. I saw some old batches at a local store for $50, but if it's a typical sulfur sherry bomb, I don't want anything to do with it.A'bunadh is probably the thickest, sherriest scotch I've ever had. So much so that I had to pass on the sherried drams for a while after opening the bottle. Not that it's bad. You just have to be in the mood for what it is, I guess. And I'm rarely in need of that kind of sherry fix. I'm not sure that the earlier batches were anything special, either (although I may be overlooking one batch that scotch-ists drool over). Jwilly019
Decided to expand my scotch horizons a bit and picked up a 50mL sampler pack of The Balvenie 12, 15, and 21. Also bought a Balvenie 17 Rum Cask and after enjoying Glenfiddich 12, got the Glenfiddich Snow Phoenix as well. Lastly, found two 50mL bottles of Macallan 18 for 8.99 each, so I grabbed those too. roostercogburn
Picked up a bottle of Teacher's Highland Cream yesterday. Been wanting to try this for a while, and for $18 I couldn't pass it up any longer. I rather like blended Scotch, especially for those times I don't feel like thinking about what I'm drinking, and Teacher's fits that perfectly. It's very light; there's a little smoke on the finish, and that's about it. It is nice that the grain doesn't stand out in a bad way, as often happens with blends in the <$20 range. Special Reserve
I found a bottle of Laphroaig 15 earlier this week. I'll have to compare it to the 18 and 10 down the road.
Brisko
I rather like blended Scotch, especially for those times I don't feel like thinking about what I'm drinking, and Teacher's fits that perfectly. This is precisely why I keep a bottle of blended Scotch around. And I like Teacher's, too, although I've had it come across as a little green.
Megawatt
Tomintoul With a Peaty Tang. This is how I like peaty Scotch to taste: medicinal, but not too ashy; sweet and well-integrated.
T Comp
Binny's 15% off coupon day (excludes allocated and cellar items) and as the bourbon cupboard is quite full I picked up a batch 39 Aberlour A'bunadh at $51 with the discount...and some excellent cheap Portuguese red wines too. TomH
My bottle of Compass Box's The Last Vatted Grain arrived today along with an Ileach Cask Strength (I think it's supposed to be a sherried Laphroaig, but have not seen anything definitive)
JamesW
Picked up 2 HP12's in Atlanta (each came with a free 50 ml of HP18) for $34 ea. Then I grabbed 2 Laphroaig 18's for $59 ea at the duty free coming back into Canada! What a score (it goes for $179.99 at the LCBO :-() !
smokinjoe
The Dark Side Temptor at McScrooge's insisted I try a sample of Springbank 12 yr Cask Strength. He might as well have reached in my pocket and taken $70 at the same time. I hadn't completely swallowed my first sip before I ran and grabbed a bottle from the shelf to take home. Magnificent whiskey.
