If you're looking for an inexpensive Islay expression I'd give Black Bottle 5 yrs (10yrs if you can get it) or Islay Mist 8 a try. You may find them a better value.

Haven't heard of or seen those around here. But I'll keep an eye out for them.

Did you open it yet? I might try mine tonight, hopefully Hansell steered me in the right direction.

It's another top notch scotch from John Glaser!

What with all the love all over the place, I picked up a 375 for $20. First pour was OK, but I poured it next to HP12, and that kind of overwhelmed it. I think the GKS is more subtle, more gentle. I'm still not really acquainted with it.

Totally different animals. GKS is a easy drinking everyday blend. I love HP too but I try not to compare blends to single malts. I compare GKS to other $45 blends and I find it very good.

Grabbed a bottle of Ardbeg Alligator. Sounded interested and I do love me some Islay's.

Hopefully this is as good as their other offerings in this range.

Dug up a bottle of Laphroaig 15 at a little store in the boonies for $65. Sad they only had one!

Still stands head & shoulders over the 18 yr... Wish they still made it.

Found a bottle of the Ardmore Traditional Cask that I've seen mentioned here a few times. Also got a bottle of my favorite, Laphroaig 10yr. It was the last bottle on the shelf and I get the feeling it may disappear again from these parts for awhile.

The Ardmore TC is a nice go-to whiskey, and reasonably priced. I picked up some HP12 on sale at the LCBO (still $20 more than I paid for it in Atlanta last month lol)

Went out shopping for bourbon and returned with a bottle of Springbank 10 that was on sale (in addition to some inexpensive bourbon). It's been quite a while since I've had the Springbank, so I'm looking forward to tonight's dram.

Let us know what you think of the Ardmore.

I find it to be a little "hot." Not nearly as smooth as Laphroaig or anything. However I plan on adding some water to it to see if it opens up a bit. So far, I don't think it's bad at all. I just need some more time with it.

Today I went back to the store planning to pick up a bottle of Talisker 10 after doing some reading on it. Unfortunately, they were out of it! So I was tempted to get another bottle of Ardbeg 10 but I ultimately decided to try something new and went with the Bowmore 12.

Picked up a few Redbreast Cask Strengths. Opened it up to take a quick whiff. So far, so great. :D Going to go do my run, then it's pour time.
