I have seen the full goild foil skin on auction there for $100'ish, but I have not really looked much.

Are you sure it's THE 97? Not sure you want to get more of that one. If there are any Splits hanging around, it's usually the 97's. For a good reason...I'd take a pass on those.

Oh no, what's wrong with the 1997 split-label WT12's? I've only got two in my bunker that I've yet to open, and they are both from 1997 (02/06/97 & 10/02/97). The only time I've ever had the split-label WT12 is at Randy's, and I thought it was very good, some of the best WT I've ever had! Now I hear you saying this about the only two bottles that I have. I wish I hadn't read this. Maybe you're just joking because it's a new guy asking about it, yeah that's the ticket (me, telling myself: "Yeah, he was only joking...ha-ha").

Haven't had the gold 12. Have had WT 8/12/14/rye/1855/AS.

My question is how the Gold (any) qualifies with the WTMDS 14?

Reg 12= $35-55

Gold 12= 100^120ish

For anyone who hasn't searched and found enough evidence of it, the current export-only pales in comparison to the split label and gold foil that was originally sold here. I actually found the current 8year to be better than the 12year.

I find them to be different. By atleast 20 bucks.

Seriously though, they are a bit apart.

The 8yr is decent at it's price and the 12 yr is well 20 bucks different.

Value-wise the 8 year is where it's at. Especially, the 1000ml bottling.

Me too. I recently had a bottle of the current release of the 12 year, and didnt think it was significantly better than the current release of teh 8 year.

At the Atlanta Duty Free, this week, WT 12 is $35. Otherwise they had Woodford Reserve, Jim Beam, Knob Creek & WT 8. No option but to got with the WT 12.
