Not a lurker but a member. Make my home in Rockford. Maybe one of these days we can meet somewhere in the middle and tip a couple. By the way, just in case you didn't know, there's a great liquor store in Bloomington. Friar Tuck's. Great place. Check it out if you haven't been there yet. Joe

There is a Friar Tuck's in Peoria. Great selection. They carry the BT Antique Collection. They even have some Japanese malts.

Definitely would like to meet in the middle sometime. Sterling, perhaps.

This is a disturbing fact, but being a native Iowegian I must say that good bourbon is almost non existent here. I did, however pick up a bottle of WTRR 101 yesterday and left several others on the shelf. ...On second thought maybe I am all alone! :bigeyes:

Stillmaster, I feel your pain. Though I rarely get to points further West than Davenport, or Burlington IA. even that far East selection on your side of the river sucks. Since Iowa is a control state, does that prevent you from ordering from out-of-state (Binny's/Sam's)?

Brad, I had been ordering from Binney's for the last couple of years, but a few months ago I tried to order some of the Single barrel Weller 12 and they called me to say that they no longer ship to my state. Now I feel more isolated than ever! Thank goodness I have located a couple of stores that carry more than just the "states list" but they are a long way from me. For this reason, most of my vacations include bourbon hunting.

I think LaSalle/Peru would be a better middle spot. With a detour to the JC Whitney outlet store! That place makes me feel like a teenager again.

I'm not in the area, but I used to live in Rockford, and I spent some time driving all over. That drive to Peoria is a killer. At least they put those windmills at Pawpaw to break the monotony.

Jeff, the best I have found is Cyclone liquors in Ames, but Ingersoll wine and spirits has two locations in Des Moines one of which is just off of I-35 on 50th Street in West Des Moines. Ingersoll has a very small selection but it does extend beyond the "standard" (JB white, EW black, ect.) Best bet is to bring it with you when visiting our fair state.
