Bernheim Wheat Whiskey .......

As a newb to bourbon and an astute learner, I've been diligently reading the forum posts. I've been trying to keep straight all the shuffling of ownership of the bourbon distilleries, but I think it's a lost cause.

Anyway, I've come across numerous posts on the Bernheim distillery, but I couldn't tell you if this is an old and established distillery or a recent one. Wanting to sort things out I did a google search on "Bernheim bourbon" and came up with this:

Can anyone shed some light on this wheat whiskey, or has this subject already been posted, beaten to death, and I missed it?

Hey Scoots,

Since I think it is "wheated whiskey" with more wheat than corn, then it is not bourbon (as was already stated in a thread). Bourbon must be at least 51% corn.

I am not sure....but assume that Scoots was looking for bourbon made at Bernheim. Which lead him to Berheim whisky.

Bernheim has been around for a long number of years. It was most recently overhauled in the early 90's. HH is putting alot of capital in to the distillery in attempts to increase output by around 40%.

And always great to get input from a member with only two digits in his number....it's nice to see you posting again Greg!

Mozilla nailed it!!! I did a Google search for "Bernheim bourbon" and the first link I hit was to the Bernheim WHEAT Whiskey website. No minimum 51% corn - so no bourbon qualifications. I think it would be interesting to try this whiskey, but no availability in Oregon.
