Hi folks,

I've worked out a trade and need to ship a bottle to Germany. Imagine my surprise when I took the box to the post office and they said they will not accept any shipments of wine or spirits. Damn I say. Does anybody have any suggestions on which carrier I should use to ship this bottle?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I have not shipped internationally, but domestically, I have used FedEx without a problem.

Check out this link for more info - from an earlier thread here on SB.

I think wadewood said it best -

Must of us play "don't ask don't tell" when it comes to shipping bourbon. It is against policy of FedEx, UPS and USPS to ship hard spirits (and may be agaisnt your state law). Just don't tell them what is in package and package it well and you should be fine. I ship using Fedex online and print my own labels and just drop off packages, so they never ask what is in them. If you take package to a store, they will likely ask what is in box.

Binnys ship to m,e using FedEX, and they have a commercial invoice attached...plus FedEX pick up from Binnys, so they know Booze is on the move, but I would generally stick with the don't tell notion. I have had plenty of bottles sent USPS from the states. Write "collectable decanter" on the customs form.
