There are tons of inexpensive bonds available, mostly HH, but Beam and Barton as well. These are usually in the $10-$15 range and respectable for that amount of money.

Jono, I would definitely get a couple of Very Old Barton 100 BIBs...I've seen them for as low as 9.99...but almost anyplace in KY you can get them between $11-$13, and it's a great bourbon.

VOB BIB and Four Roses, definitely.

Old Bourbon Hollow is a BIB from Beam. Not spectacular, but good, and not easily found elsewhere.

BIBs in general are good to pick up, if you like them, because they're hard to find elsewhere. I like JTS Brown, others swear by J.W. Dant, both by Heaven Hill.

Although now more widely available than it used to be, Ancient Ancient Age (the 10-year-old) is a good 'get' in Kentucky.

Not bourbon, but I like to keep some Mellow Corn BIB on hand. It's a Heaven Hill straight corn whiskey, aged in used barrels.

Not bourbon, but if you like ginger ale, get some Ale-8-One, a Kentucky original.

There are more Heaven Hill expressions that I can remember, ranging in age from NAS to 10 year, and from 80 proof to 100. Jim Beam is also available in four, five, seven, and eight year old versions. Who knew?

Take a second look at every Bib you come across. It could be the last time you see that label again. They are very elusive, ...sometimes.

Is the Very Old Barton 100 BIB still available? This was a favorite of mine since a swing through Kentucky a few years ago, and I was looking forward to grabbing some more bottles while there for the Festival later this month.

But the Constellation Brands web site doesn't mention this bottling, just an 80 proof non-BIB version with a much different label from what I remember.

If you look at the list of bottles/saizes available on the bottom of that page you will notice 100, 90, 86, 80 proof versions. The most recent product shot is just above that list to the right, with 4 squat bottles.

Yes, indeed. Just make sure you read the label. They look a lot alike.

I just received a bottle of Very Old Barton 100 proof from Binny's in Chicago. Prominently states "6 Years Old" in three places on the labels, and definitely still states "Bottled in Bond" in a single place, right above the brand name.

Haven't cracked the bottle yet, but $12 is a great price....
