BourbonJoe
I think they are one in the same. Hasn't been right since it was age labeled IMO.Joe :usflag:
OscarV
NAS Black Maple Hill has been out for quite a while now, like a year and a half I think.I've had several of the AS and really liked them, never had the NAS.
Jono
I have never had BMH products....they seem to get wildly varying reviews. If I to try one...it will be one with an age statement.
B1bomber
I've had a few of the BMHs and from my experience the 16 year is the best, followed by the 14. The 18 and 21 are also good but too expensive considering the 16 is actually better. And the 23 Rye is also pretty great, although expensive. I came across an 11 a few days ago in Nutley, NJ, and was tempted to grab it but passed.Unfortunately the Small Batch falls considerably short in the BMH line, in my opinion. It's not in the same league as the 16.
MikeK
I looked up a few pictures of the 'small batch' online and it does look like the NAS version that came out a year or so back. Nasty stuff, I've actually seen it in the discount bin by the register. I agree, the 16yo is very good and the 18yo rye is excellent, but at the $95 I see it for I gaze fondly and move along. Virus_Of_Life
Not heard anything good about it and yes its been out quite a while and is the orange-ish label. Considering the color is about as light as Jim Beam white I wouldn't expect much and am not surprised I haven't heard anything good about it. jpact
I bought a bottle about a month ago and thought it was OK. Then I tasted it along side OGD BiB (which was $26/bottle less!), and it came off very flat and simple. $40 poorly spent, IMO.
felthove
I bought a bottle and was disappointed initally since I paid over $40. Over time I grew to really enjoy it and found it to have a nice complexity and richness. It did have a good rye zip to it if you like that style. If you have the money it's a nice bottle to have around to break up monotony.
