Any Good Places to Buy Bourbon in Maine?

I will be headed to Maine in a few weeks and will be traveling from Portland to Mt.Desert Island. I will be for the most part hitting the brew pubs and craft brewers but thought there may be a few liquor stores that would be worthwhile to poke my head into. While Maine is a bit off the beaten path I thought we may have a member or two that may have some recommendations on liquor shops (as well as spots brewing great beer). TIA...

Maine seems to be State controlled, and liquor tends to be found in some supermarkets and tough to find. I feel bad for Maine natives.

Any of you want to correct this?

It is state controlled but through private stores who pay commissions to the state.

NH is much more sophisticated. The state runs its own stores which are a destination for a lot of people. A good deal of their business is from Massachusetts people going to NH or through NH to get to Maine.
