In the New Parker's Is 27-year-old Bourbon thread there was mention that Preiss will be releaseing a Hirsch 25 and a 28 yo bourbon.

The Hirsch releases will probably be on the heels of the new Parker release.

I have a question as to the source of this bourbon.

Preiss owns what is left of the bourbon distilled by Michter's and that is some 16yo stored in stainless.

There is no other Michter out there.

Unles they uncovered the,...Lost Barrels!!

Did Peiss make a bulk buy from another distillery?

Who distilled this new 25 and 28 yo bourbon?

Remember when Heaven Hill came out with that Rittenhouse Rye 21 and 23 yo's?

A very short time after KBD released Willett Rye 21yo. KBD bought it from Heaven Hill.

Did Preiss get some old bourbon from Heaven Hill that Parker Beam did not care for?

Hey, I ain't saying,....I'm only asking.

Are you talking about the stuff that was retrived and temporarily tanked before being rebottled, as discussed in this thread?

Because I'm pretty sure all that was in the original (1995) tanks was bottled in 2003.

The ones in that big warehouse in Area 51? Sorry, I heard those were traded to the kzinti in exchange for not invading Earth.

Sounds yummy. Sign me up for a case.

No they didn't

There are many pages of discussion on the KBD, VW and BT old rye sources in the archives. The usual suspects are Medley and Bernheim.

The Willett Rye came about because some of us got a taste of the barrel proof version of what was to become the old Rittenhouse, but were not allowed to buy any at barrel proof.

Doug Philips took the initiative to work with KBD to do a barrel purchase of barrel proof rye that KBD had on hand, similar to the concept that Lenell was working on with Drew. This became the Willett Rye, using a label that Drew had ready-approved but had never yet used (as far as I know).
