Old Charter 10 yr.

I have a bottle of Old Charter 10 yr. I noticed mine is from Louisville, but the most current OC 10's were from frankfurt. (assuming BT) Who made the OC 10 from Louisville?

United Distillers, the people who built the distillery (1992 I believe) now owned by

Heaven Hill.

Jeff (mozilla) told me (via chat, last eve) that BT bought all the barrel stock of OC, so most (if not all) of the 10yo bottled in Frankfort over the last ten years was actually distilled in Louisville.

A Lousiville bottling of OC 10/86 was the subject of the most recent Virtual Blind Tasting, #134.

From what I can tell...the BT distillate uses a different yeast than the new and old Bernheim juice. Which, makes the UD product a little fruitier. Also, I would imagine that BT doesn't use as much corn, just a guess though.

According to Chuck's book, the UD mashbill for OC was "about 86 percent" corn (pg 138). I've read here on SB.com that BT makes it using their standard low-rye mashbill, which is about 80% corn. This is the same mashbill used in BT, ER and GTS.
