Buying Bourbon in Cruise Ports?

Penny and I are going on a cruise within the month (during KBF week).

We will be visiting Cozumel, Mexico, Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Grand Cayman. In the past, I've seen people buying liquor in cruise ports, but never really paid attention to it. This is the first cruise after my eyes have been opened to the wealth of bourbon choices out there.

My question is: Am I likely to find anything unusual in those ports (a dusty, discontinued or bourbon not for distribution in the USA) and could I get it back here at a cost that's not prohibitive?

I don't know about those exact ports, but on a recent cruise, I to Caribbean I was able to buy WT 12 at a duty free right outside cruise terminal. I also found a Blantons Gold in Bermuda.

You won't find anything in Mexico outside of Duty Free. I have seen all kinds of Wild Turkey expressions in the Duty Free.

The Carribean east cruise that I took did not have any bourbons to speak of that you coud not get in teh states for teh same price of cheaper on sale... Tons of Scotch and rum... cigars, etc...

Thanks guys... Looks like Duty Free is the place to look and I'll be on the lookout for WT and Blanton's.

Just got back from a cruise in the Eastern Carribean. I didn't see any special bourbons except WT 8 y/o. The ports were San Juan, St. Thomas, Tortola, Antigua and Nassau. Slim pickens.

Joe,

St Marteen has a pretty good selection of liquor, including bourbon. Of course, the Scotch selection is huge. Did you stop there?

We were at Cozumel this last summer and WT 8yr was the only thing of interest I found in duty free. I picked up 2 bottles still have one left. Didn't check out any of the local liquor stores. Oh and got a free WT ball cap I don't wear hats.

My biggest dusty score of all time was at a duty free shop at the cruise terminal in San Juan Puerto Rico. I found 4 bottles of the original BUB Elmer T Lee, in gift boxes at $5 each.

Just got back from an 8 day cruise to the Eastern Carribean. Mighty slim pickens. All I saw was a WT 8 y/o.
