Ok, being relatively new to bourbon, I have been buying a lot of different bourbons over the past several months to see what I like and don't like. I have recently moved to an area with many more liquor stores and a bigger selection to choose from. I have found one store that is just awesome, it is like a warehouse! Great prices and the best selection around. I have generally tried to limit my spending to under $50 for a 750ml bottle. I did however see a bottle of Johnny Walker blue label the other day for a mere $225. Glad I have not aquired a taste for scotch! Anyway, here is a little assesment that I have made. I have come to the conclusion that I definately like the higher rye'd bourbons. I have had WT101, WT80(not impressed), WT Rye, Bullitt, OGD80, OGD BIB, OGD 114, VOB 80, VOB 90, VOB100, Old Heaven Hills BIB, Old Forester, Old ForesterSignature, Rittenhouse Rye BIB, Evan Williams Black Label, Evan Williams BIB, Buffalo Trace, Makers Mark, Jim Beam 80. I have also had the two TN Wiskeys, Jack and George - 80 and 90. My personal favorite? The one I keep going back and buying the most......Old Forester Signature. This is one of the best bourbons I have ever had! I also enjoyed Buffalo Trace and the OGD 114. The price is also great. $35 for the half gallon. For a more corny taste I like the EW Black label and the BIB. There is just something about the Very Old Barton that does not settle right with me. I have tried all three of the selections and cannot get them to settle right. Well, This is my first assessment I have come up with. I will be sure to check back in the future with more assessments I come up with. This has been a fun adventure up to now and am looking forward to the rest of the road! Any input from the pros will be appreciated. Thanks for reading!

That is a nice collection so far.

I would think that any of the Wellers (Old Weller Antique, Weller 90, Weller 10/107, William Laura Weller - or older versions) would be good.

The Van Winkels (ORVW 10/107, Van Winkel Lot B, PVW 15yr - or the other higher $versions) would be good.

From your list and your description of what you like, I would go with 1792. It is about $20 here in KY, made by Barton, and has a high rye mashbille.

Really? I'd also read that it has a high percentage of barley malt in the bill. If both are true then it would likely not have much more than the 51% of corn legally required.

Is the actual bill published anywhere?
