ratcheer
This drink has always sounded so good to me. However, I have never had one that I really enjoyed. I don't know if I have never had one made correctly or if it is just, in the end, a drink I don't like. :skep:Tim
GreggB
Here is a great recipe from Gourmet magazine, page 53 of the February 2006 issue. A great drink for a cold night with the winds whipping around the house and down the chimney and into your bones. To make four drinks:2 cups waterone-half stick unsalted butterone-fourth cup packed dark brown sugar1 teaspoon cinnamonone-half teaspoon freshly grated nutmegone-fourth teaspoon ground clovesone-eighth teaspoon salttwo-thirds cups dark rumBring water, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt to a boil over moderate heat. Reduce heat to low and simmer, whisking occasionally, for ten minutes. Remove from heat and stir it rum.I would guess any dark rum would work, and that an expensive dark rum would be wasted when charged with defending against this onslaught of spices.
