Wild Turkey Kentucky Legend 101, neat.

I've asked it before and I'll keep on asking until I get an answer.

What did I do to deserve such good bourbon?

Clean living, bud. Clean living.

Started off with ORVW 90, now on to ORVW 107. Really like both of them.

At this particular moment, I'm enjoying a Mint Julep made with Woodford Reserve while putting together an interview with Chris Morris. I'll probably post it on here for you guys to check out once it goes live.

Enjoying a small pour of Baby Saz. Still got some work to do, but another pour is on the horizon. Fantastic stuff.

Gotta say thanks again to those who encouraged me to try this, I'm much obliged. I'm bringing a bottle as a gift for some friends when I go to Italy in two weeks. The FR1B wow'ed 'em last year, and I know the Saz will do the same.

Cheers!

Doing odd work around the house, listening to some Gentle Giant, and since I had an itch for a bourbon & coke I'm quaffing one made with Weller SR. Good enough to drink neat, cheap enough to mix with anything should the urge strike...it's a winner.

Currently enjoying a nice pour of Weller 7/107. Probably going to follow it by another nice pour of WTR or BT.

A very delicious pour of Weller Antique after a short workday and a late afternoon spent shooting. Thank God the field was dry enough to drive in, 460 yards doesn't seem like much till you have to walk back and forth just to change targets etc. I need an ATV.

Started off with a Knob Creek at the Bar. Got home and had a ORV 10/107 and now I'm working on polishing off a Bernheim bottle.

Saw Matt Laporta get his first major leauge hit that was a 2 run jack so that was nice.

Vatted some Makers and Old Fitz BIB... my most successful vatting thus far. Now I'm celebrating that with some WLW 2008 icon12.gif

Tell us how you like the WLW 08. I just picked some up the other day but have yet to try it.

I'm trying to relax with a taste of SAz 18. We did a bath remodel and the plumbers were out today to change the toilet and a bit of piping. So tonight guess what- the whole damm house plugged up- nothing would drain. We've been here 20 years and never a problem. So the guy comes out and starts blaming me for the back up and wants to wager on what they find in the main out. This didn't sit too well with me... especially since I showed him the huge handful of plastic shavings I pulled out from under where the new terlet went in.

Anyway, the drain is flowing again. and I have a fresh Saz 18 in my hand. Initially it had a bit of higher ketone like some Mezcal, sort of a fingernail polish remover scent. It's aired off and is really showing some depth with caramel, vanilla, mint, rye, leather finish.

It tastes like 'more'

Cheers,

RW

I love the WLW. It's in my top 5. Very smooth and definitely drinkable full strength neat.

Some 1987 Wild Turkey 80 proof, neat.

It's like Turkey Lite.

I had a small neat pour of the 1999 EWSB awhile ago. It's an interesting bourbon, with the scent of corn coming up behind a rather prominent whiff of fruit, particulary Niagara grape (part of the nose reminds me of the nose of the sweet, delicious Niagara wine from St. Julian winery in Michigan.) I also got a bit of raisin in it. I found corn and pepper with a nice hit of oakiness on the palate with citrusy notes, and I seem to sense a slight tinge of raisins, with a fadeout of oak, pepper, a little sugary sweetness, and a bit of mint. It's lighter than the rest of my modest lineup (Weller SR, KC, WT101, and ETL) with a nice crispness to it. It makes a light and refreshing Old Fashioned, went down nicely on this nice mild sunny spring evening. :) I'll have to see if it is as good in a summer Manhattan...

As per the vatting thread, tried a vatting of WTR101 and OWA. Had just a few sips so far, but it is very, very good.

I'm having a little post-work pour of some SW-era Old Weller Antique from a gold-veined bottle. I'll admit I didn't see what all the fuss was about the first two or three drinks I had from this bottle, but it's really growing on me. It's a really rich, sweet whiskey with a fat mouthfeel. Nice stuff!

Currently drinking an old fashioned made with EW black. When I first opened the EW up, I really liked it neat, but lately it just hasn't been doing anything for me.
