I am in search for help in purchasing a great birthday present for my friend, a bourbon enthusiast. He has recently aquired an extensive collection of bourbon and has a very impressive bunker.

I am not looking to purchase a bottle of bourbon for him (trust me he has enough).

I am interested in either purchasing a collectable item, nice glasswear, or a good book on bourbon.

Any suggestions for a gift would be much appreciated.

If you could please direct me also to where to find such gifts, that would also be helpful.

A good book? I recommend But Always Fine Bourbon which is a story of the Van Winkle family and their bourbon. It is available at the Buffalo Trace gift shop. http://www.buffalotrace.com/giftshop.asp

I also recommend Bourbon, Straight which was written by Chuck Cowdery. You can find it on Amazon.com and at http://cowdery.home.netcom.com/bourst.html

You can't go wrong with either of those books.

Sorry to keep you guys in suspense.

I did not want to risk him reading the post and ruin the surprise.

His birthday is today and he loved the Glencarin glasses.

Thanks again for all the great ideas.

The double old fashion. What I like about them is that at four inches they're the right size for my hand. Got a nice heft to them, too.

Expensive, but then so are a lot of the "foo foo" tasting glasses.
