Your last 15 bucks

I have been reading through old post lately and found an old one that really caught my eye. It was from 02 and asking if you only had 15 bucks left what would you grab. well I also have noticed a big jump in prices from now to then and most of the responses were EC12. Seeing as EC12 goes for 23.00 here I am going to raise it to 25.00.

So what bottle would you buy with your last 25 dollars?

Well that would depend on where I was. If it was here in Oregon I'd probably not be buying anything. In the St. Louis area it'd be a bottle of EW BiB and an AAA 10 year, the two best deals in bourbon land!

If I was down to my last $25 and I had no more money, I wouldn't be spending it on whiskey ( thank gad for a well stocked bunker) but if I was grabbing some bourbon, I'd buy two handles of the generic stuff i found this week. $11 a handle and suspiciously close to AA in taste and smell.

After over 20 years of drinking scotch, I became attracted to bourbon because the high end bottlings were better values than scotch. However, when the higher end bottlings are not available (as is frequently the case in many bars), I consistently find myself ordering scotch. So if I was limited to $25, I probably would go back to the dark side and buy a better quality blended scotch or possibly one of the cheaper single malts.

Considering taste, proof and price I think it's the best.

Since I'm in AL, I couldn't drive anywhere I get me a 1/2 of Old Charter

8 yr for $23.99, but I'd have to search my seat cushions for change to pay the tax!

Yanno, I've never actually had that stuff. I've wanted to try it though, that was right under wild turkey rare breed on my list which i've tried and LOVED, but i can't seem to find OGD 114 around here. I'm in columbus ohio btw. I'm gunna start lookin though once i have the money cuz i cant waitto try it. Right now, if i only had 25 to spend, i think i'd go for ew single barrell. OR i might go old faithful and get a fifth of old ezra and a fifth of ezra brooks. Always reliable, plus i'd get more for my money. cheers!

You won't fnd OGD114 in a state store in Ohio, it's not carried here. Your best bet to find it is a road trip to northern Kentucky or give the bonded OGD a try (@100 proof) since that's available here.

Okay, well, I never had an EW BiB until this week. Picked some up for $11...are you kidding? Unreal QPR. And I understand some of you guys can get it even cheaper. Ridiculous. I will be buying much of this to take home. So, I'd say a bottle of this and a bottle of Old Ezra 7/101. Wait...does that make HH my favorite distiller? Well, so be it. I've come to really appreciate HH bourbon lately in a way I hadn't before. Whether that's because the eucalyptus/mint has been phased out or whether my palate has changed, I don't know. But I'm very happy about it, given how thin the wallet is of late.

I'm in OH, so if I only had $15 I'd go for a bottle of JTS Brown (BIB). For $25, I'd probably scrounge up another $5 for the family size bottle, but if that breaks the rules then maybe 750ml of Wild Turkey 101.

15$ is a harsh cut off if buying bourbon in PA, DE or MD. The only two candidates I saw on the PLCB website were a 375 ml. of WT101 or a OGD 86. There are many options at 25$.

I got $25 bucks? One buy? OGD 114. Now, I know that you can't find the 114 everywhere. Heck, a bunch of my "best buys" can't be purchased in a lot of places. So, I'll go Maker's Mark, if the 114 is not available in the store I crawl into. If it's a $15 limit, then Evan Williams Black, or Ezra Brooks 90. I know I can get them anywhere. And, I like 'em.

As for current stock local.... for the $25 I'd go with the OGD 114- tho I think I'd have to panhandle for the tax cuz it's right at 24.99 (on a good day)

Unfortunately in Australia, $15 doesn't buy any bourbon.... unless it's a 375ml bottle of Jim Beam White label....

Nope...no crate but the bottle is similar to the one in your avatar. I must have picked up the latest re-incarnation. I like it over an ice cube...cut down the rye snap and brought out more oak and char. Reminds me a little of GD12....
