Re-reading Chuck's remark, I think I easily could have mis-read it. My apologies for the incorrect information.... :)

Elijah Craig 12yo, yesterday.

It went down like this.

A couple of weeks ago I was reading Malt Advocate and they did a review of Ardbeg Corryvreckan and the tasting notes were so hideous that I decided that I'd have to get one.

Also in that issue I saw a store in Kalamazoo that is in their Malt Whisky 300 Plus Club, Tiffany's Wine And Spirits.

So a trip to K-Zoo was on.

They didn't have the Ardbeg Corry but I found the EC12 with the same bottom bottle numbers of one I got about a month ago that was the best EC12 I have ever had.

To round out the road trip we looked up and found Fandango Tapas Bistro.

They have 44 Tapas selections!

It is a bistro that has the tastes and wines of the Mediterranean coast of Spain.

I had a couple of Mojitos and my Bride had Sangria that they make.

We however didn't have the Rabbit and Rattlesnake Sausage, (next time) but the lamb, chicken and mixed vegtables were great.

You gotta download the menu, it's fun to look at.

With news of the release of this year's Van Winkle offerings I decided to stop by a store on the way home from my monthly weekend shift. I picked up a Lot 'B' for 49.99 since my bottle is on its last legs.

On the way home I fell to wondering about the 50 dollar price point vs. the 53 dollar price on the PVW 15. Sure, I like it a lot. But it really got me to thinking about the Van Winkle marketing strategy of "Make a good product and keep it in short supply". Could (or do) other brands get away with charging virtually the same price for bourbons that are separated by 3 years in age and 8.5 % in ABV?

Elmer T. Lee 90th Birthday commemorative bottling, some Gonano Willett selections as well as a Willett bottling from Liquor World, 2009 Four Roses Mariage, 2009 Four Roses barrel proof, OWA 7/107 and some dusty odds and ends that slip my mind right now.

Twas a great week.

Can I ask where you found the ETL 90th Birthday? Been looking for one in Kentucky.

The places where I found it no longer have stock.

Also, I heard that there are only 4 bottles in the whole state. :slappin:

(Just kidding, long story)

JT at liquor world said each store only received 6 bottles but we haven't seen any hit the shelves in Lexington, so I'm beginning to wonder.

At the KBF I got a JPSR 17, ETL, FR Mariage 2009, and a trade for a WT 101 12 yr split label. I thought I was a very good boy I could have spent easily double or triple that.

Over the weekend got OFBB 09, Mariage 09, ORVW 107, Mellow Corn BiB, 4R Single Barrel (Curtis/Hightower ed.) and handles of Old Fitz BiB, AAA 10 y/o and HH BiB White label and one sling, very very lightly used.

Oh and I already got an offer for the C/H bottle.

Got all of these, most in multiples and most thanks to fellow member generosity in one way or another:

4R 2009 Anniversary

ETL 90

VWFRR

Pappy 15

OGD 114

Weller 12

FRSmB

RR 10/90

Saz Jr.

RHFarms

BT Cream Liquer

....... And I could have easily spent double what I did.

Picked up the 90th Commemorative ETL and the new FRSB (K yeast).
Damn...is the ETL 90th only available in KY? If so, any chance you have access to an extra? ;)

ETL 90th is in hand. Stock was pretty good so I may have to go back. If anyone can't get it, let me know. Maybe we can work something out.

Enjoy the last (roughly) 24 hours of (official) summer folks! It's going to be 90+ here tomorrow so I'll unluck the fall thread when/after it has officially began!

I forgot I picked up the BT Cream Liqueur for my wife she didn't like it. I guess I'll have to drink it, add a little vodka and emerita to this you'll have a really nice drink and a bad hangover.

I picked it up for $30 a bottle. I am actually going to be in Chicago for a convention next Wednesday thru Monday. I will be staying in Rosemont by the convention center. I can grab an extra bottle or two if you want, as long as they are still there. Trying to find a bottle of Dry Fly Whiskey to try, does Binny's happen to have any left?
