It's Monday night, so you know what that means. A BT on the rocks with a couple of cherries hit the spot after bowling.

Bowls.

On a similar note, I'm enjoying Old Fitz BiB on the rocks with a cherry from my friends Sable & Rosenfeld.

I was tasting some cheap-o's; had a HH BIB 6yr white label, and a VOB 6 yr 86pf. Conclusion: I wont replace the HH, and i'm always proud of the value of VOB.

Waterbed Kev! good to see you posting again grasshopper.

Two of my faves. I do concede that the VOB, even the 86, is better than the HH BiB whitey, tho.

Two game winning streak, all three Purdue NFL QB's are on undefeated teams...it's a good time to be a Boiler!

Only a pour of OGD 114 before dinner yesterday, as I still prefer to keep it low after my beer massacre last weekend. It tasted very well and really teased my appetite.

While visiting a friend last night , we sat for a number of hours and enjoyed a pretty nice spread of bourbons.

'75 Yellowstone 86pf

Personal vatting of Charter 101 and AAA 10 year

PHC first release

Re-barrel project of Old Bourbon Hollow BIB and HH BIB (1.5 yrs in 5L barrel)

'05 Stagg, spring and fall

WT American Spirit

Couple of interesting points. The Yellowstone was fantastic. Thick and lush mouthfeel and a finish that lingered on. The re-barrel was terrific and I think the proof was in excess of entry. The color was coffee like and the taste was full flavored with pleasant wood tones. Of the Staggs, I preferred the fall over spring release. Of course the company and cigars were a perfect compliment to really great bourbon.

OFBB 2009.

Left this one alone for a few weeks and then tried it again. Still finding something oddly discordant in the entry. Can't place my finger on it (although it's on the tip of my tongue:slappin: ) ---- but I don't like it.

Lot B before dinner and uncut HH 9 and 15 years from Cadenheads after. The 2 Cadenheads tasted very, very good today. All neat as I do most brands.

I broke down and had a HUGE pour of Binny's Weller 12 with some of the guys in chat last night. For those who like wheaters the Binny's Weller 12 is a fantastic bourbon...not to mention that it's a sub $25 bottle. I would be a happy man if this was the only bourbon that I had to drink...it's that good IMO! :)

I'm with you on that one. It's amazingly good when you're in the mood for a wheater, and the price is hard to beat.

And what's even better, is that it's not a 12 year bourbon but over 14 years old. At that price, it's a pretty good bargain for a well aged wheater.

Had a pour of ER 10/90 followed up by a Binny's ETL...ETL is definitely sweeter on entry and a bit lusher mid palate...good stuff for sure!

Just picked up an Evan Williams single barrel, 1999. Much lighter whisky than I prefer, but pleasant on the aroma and vanilla on the palate.

Eagle Rare is on deck.

Cheers

ORVW 10/107 and now just finished my second pour of WLW 2008 of the night... oddly I'm not feeling a thing. (no really. I can't explain it but I've hit my technical limit and feel as though I haven't had a single drink) This ever happen to anyone? Not sure if I should grab another pour or wait for it all to kick in....

Since I'm at the start of an elongated weekend, I'm having a little Lot B followed by a little WLW 2008, I'm enjoying both. Both are excellent bourbons. The WLW does rule the day however, but you must be careful to enjoy it slowly to bring out all its character.

I have in fact and thought it may be due to building up an immunity to it...

It looks like a WLW night...just finished up some evening work in advance of a 4 day weekend and I'm watching baseball with a pour of '07 WLW

Just opened a AA BIB & tried that for the first time. I liked it ok neat (pretty rough around the edges, but still very nice), but on a couple of cubes it watered down to skunk . . . I think a full cup of ice if any at all . . . interesting though . . . I'm interested to spend some time with this one.

Bowling night tonight. Even though it was my night off, I showed up to cheer on my team. Plus, it was drink free night. We get so much money in our kitty, then we drink free rather than buy rounds. Had the normal bowling alley fare. Beam White and coke. But....... I brought along some sample of 08 GTS, 07 WLW, 08 ER 17, and 08 Handy. Needless to say it was a good night. Hopefully, if my local store gets their 09 BTAC in, I'll be picking up a few bottles this weekend. Some for me, and some for a few others. It's all good. I did have Dickel Cascade Hallow for the firs time before dinner yesterday. It was maybe not as good as no 8 but not bad at all and it defiantly tasted Dickel. After dinner I hade Handy 2008 and ORVW 10/107.

Seeing as I'm home this week I've been able to actually have a pour while chatting with the guys...last night I had pours of ORVW 10/107 and a Pappy 15...both very good but as one would expect the Pappy is smoother and a more complex.
