Following it up with some 2009 Stagg, neat.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

With all the talk about bad bottles of EC12 I was reading. I had to break open one I had laying around. It's most definitely not bad.

smells like sweet gummy goodness

tastes like pepper and leather

I think the current EC 12yo's are very good, same goes for the current EC 18yo.

Last I tried the 18 was a good 3+ years ago. I don't remember it being all that great, and I think i paid 40 bucks or more for it. I have seen it around lately, usually around the same price. Whenever I see it in a store though, it's usually next to a bunch of other good stuff as well. Maybe soon...

this 12 is tasty

I tried a couple of bourbons tonight but the taste didn't hit me right. I decided upon a blend I made some years ago of Dutch (genever) gins and vodka(s). I also had added a bit of Anchor Hotalings for some rye whiskey flavour unmodified by new charred barreling. (Geneva gin originally was much like straight rye, either young rye or rye aged in used barrels, sometimes flavored with juniper but often not). I've got a finger sitting in my tallish, heavy-based 1792 Ridgemont Reserve tumbler. It's got a top-note of spearmint gum, is the best way to describe it, with some spice and perhaps juniper underneath. Juniper manifests differently in Dutch-style gin. It's very soft and spreads fittingly on the palate. A good drink that I have perhaps 2 or 3 times a year but when I do I enjoy it a lot.

Last I tried the 18 was a good 3+ years ago. I don't remember it being all that great,

The bottle I am drinking from was barreled on 6-11-90 in barrel no 2795.

I highly recommend this bottle.

My one and only complaint (very minor you understand) would be the proof, 90, I'll bet this stuff would have been awesome at barrel proof or even something like 107 proof would have been bomb.

My rule of thumb is usually nothing under 100 proof. But of course, I never stick to it. As you can see with the bottle of EC12 I just opened.

well...

it was a EC12...

but it tasted like 2 ounces of white dog with a dollars worth of dirty pennies marinating in it!

so I tossed it down the drain!

What is wrong with the EC12 and HH juices?

it tasted more like a 3yr old.

I have read about this problem before, but experiencing it first hand really left a bad (copper metallic hatred) taste in my mouth.

Tonight it was W L Weller Cenntennial. This is really. really good! My thanks to Unclebunk for giving me a heads-up to grab this from my local liquor store. I picked up the two bottles the store had. As a newbie I am still learning a lot from this forum. Thanks to everyone for sharing.

With Thanksgiving just around the corner, I am starting my Turkey love. WTRR 101 is the bird on the menu. :yum: Pass the dressing, please...though, this bird is so good it can easily go solo.

I'm calling it a night with a nice pour of Woodford Reserve. What a significantly distinct tasting bourbon. IMO, there is absolutely no other bourbon in Bourbonia that even remotely resembles the taste profile of this. And, that's why I love it. Kinda like Islay scotch, in that I don't think that everyone has to like it, but it's cool to have distinctive flavor differences in our products. And...I do like the taste.

A glass of the oh-so-fine 7yo Willett bottling done by the Bourbon Society, in all its beautiful barrel strength glory.
