I noticed there was a $100 challenge in 2008. I thought it would be fun to revisit the idea.

You are given $100 to spend on bourbon. Assume all recent bottlings are available to you. What would you get?

I'm also going to assume that I can only buy it in my town.

Four Roses Small Batch $29

Four Roses Single Barrel $39

Eagle Rare 10/90 $29

You guys are gonna be thirsty if you plow your whole years whiskey budget on only three bottles. I think I can score 10 bottles of HH BIB 6yo Green Label for about $100.00

Holy Crap Oscar... that would be over $160 here. (100-120 for Mariage, 1B is about $45)

VOB BIB

Binny's Weller 12

GTS

Wow! Glad I'm close to KY and Chi-Town.

PVW 20yr $89 and a box of tissues to wipe the tears from my eyes when sipping the best bourbon on the planet.

Got to go with PVW15 ($50), Weller 12 ($25) and a pair of VOB BIB's ($12 each). Hmm...but what about Rittenhouse Rye or WT Rye? Damn, that's a hard one, George.

OGD 114 25.00

Benny's Weller 12yo 25.00

Eagle Rare 25.00

2 bottles of VOB BIB 25.00

I can't get the Weller or VOB here but if I could that's where my 100 would go.

Not including the oppressive Illinois and Cook County taxes I did bring in the following 4 under $100 recently.

PVW 15-$39.99-on sale

Binny's Weller 12-$24.99

OGD BIB-$15.99

VOB BIB-$12.99

Total = $93.96. Having spent some years immersed in the wine world it is still inconceivable to me that this type of quality can be had for these prices.

ER 10--$24.95

Elmer T Lee--$22.59

OWA 107 l liter--$22.59

WT 101---$15.39

Weller SR--$13.59

That's my shopping list and I'm stickin' to it.

Great proposal!

I'm assuming that I have to give bottles that are available to me.

2x OWA 375ml from 03: 19.98

1x OGD 114 $21

1x PVW 15 $59.99.

I'll get the extra dollar from my piggy bank!

As an alternative,

3x OWA 375 (03) 29.97

1x OGD 114 $21

1x Er10 $30

1x 1.75 EWB $18.

And I'll buy ten Atomic Fireballs with the extra dollar!

I have such a hard time fathoming any Pappy products being "on sale". That just doesn't happen down here, ever.

Ok, these prices do not figure KY's new 6% sales tax on alcohol.

PVW 15 at 52 bucks

OWA at 19 bucks

ETL at 29 bucks

Close to never here also, along with just finding/getting the 15, but this one particular store even had it listed in print for it's weekly sale. A year ago it had the Lot B on a one week special so the radar was up. I've only seen one other store here, that once had both proofs of the ORVW at a great "sale" price and that's it.

There's also the occasional Binny's discount coupon...10% for today....which gives me the $50 challenge of either 2 more Weller 12's or 1 of the new barrel strength FRSB's. Such a spot to be in  .

I have heard amazing things about the Binny's Weller 12's. Then again, I've never really seen too many complaints on any 4R release...sounds like a tough spot to be in.

Found this interesting so I'm giving it a shot. A bit hard, though.

Old Crow $7.50

BenchMark $8.40

JTS Brown BIB $9.50

VOB BIB $12.00

W.L. Weller SR $15.50

Blantons $47.00

Now I want to go pickup the list.:drinking:
