ThomasH
Thanks for the link AVB. I was in a liquor store checking out the Christmas gift packs and as I was walking around I got out of range of the stores sound speakers. I do now remember hearing the 18% ABV of the Tokyo offering instead of the 27% ABV I originally posted. Anyhow, that would be some seroius beer none the less. The strongest beer I have had was Molson XXX which was something like 8%. My favorite Sam Adams is the cherry wheat but don't drink that much of it. Right now in our area, Great Lakes Brewery has their annual release of the Christmas ale out on the market. It runs 10.99 a 6 pack and my wife loves but my wallet doesn't. I look at it as a good excuse to buy more upper shelf bourbon!Thomas
Odiedog52
Here is the story on the 32% beer. Much better price than the SA too. It may be better priced (though still very expensive once you factor in shipping), but there is much debate about this beer being the strongest, compared to Utopias. Utopias is the strongest by actually having yeast strains that are capable to still be active at those insanely high ABV's, whereas the beer from Scotland is so high in alcohol due to freeze distillation.. They freeze off the water and concentrate the alcohol. Everyone has different opinions. But a German brewery just contested the 32% beer from Scotland .. And Scotland rebutted with a 40% beer. Wow. I've had 07 Utopias and I have an 09 Utopias and they are great. I have a bottle of the beer from Scotland, though I've yet to try it.. Though many agree it's way too hot. Another good thing about Utopias is that it can be opened and you can drink the suggested 2 ounce pour and put the top back on .. And put it back on the shelf and it will be fine. With it not being carbonated and the high alcohol content, it can sit on a shelf for a year or two no problem. Lastly ... Sorry for resurrecting a dead thread!
