Little pours of VOB BIB and EW Green Label BIB. Wow, what beautiful bourbons. Neither bottle over $13...but, both worth at least twice as much, IMHO.

Brought a bottle of VOB BIB with me to a Saturday night gathering of non bourbon drinkers and I was quite pleased that my 25 year old godson quite enjoyed himself neat sipping (and not shooting) this along with me. I urged him to add a little ice or water but he was quite content with the full flavors and contrast from the Jack and Coke's he's used to. He was also quite polite in putting up with all my bourbon blabber unlike some of my other so called friends  .

Late 70's WT 86.8 and current McScrooge's BT. Both are very fine, but the McScrooge's bottling seems timid. Very unlike what I'm used to seeing from McScrooge's barrel picks. I'm used to a more robust profile from them. I'll have to revisit later.

Very moderate drinking yesterday. One small pour of beam 6 grains before dinner and an even smaller pour of fernet branca before one of those rare early bedtimes that I have occasionally. It tasted good though.

Gary stopped by my house on his way home from work, and we celebrated his birthday with small pours of 08 FR Mariage, VWFRR, 05 WLW, and WTRR 101. :yum: Cheers lefty! Joe

2007 GTS at 107pf. For whatever reason, this is tastier than I remembered last Saturday when I had it.

Started with an 02 OFBB while out in the garage listenting to the radio. Since the Braves aren't on tonight, the radio is playing the SEC Football Kick-Off Show--"Battle for Atlanta" (sight of the SEC Championship Game) They're going through a team-by-team breakdown of the SEC teams. So, I thought poppin' a late Lo'vul tax stamped 90 proof Rebel Yell seemed fitting. Then went to the Fighting Cock. Very enjoyable, but, this is a tough time....College football = great....but, College football = Summer is over....

BTW, after listening to Houston Nutt, and the Ole Miss report, plus what I've heard from my neighbors who went there and/or have been.....I gotta get to Oxford and The Grove, for a game. It will be my mission for this Fall.

I had the last pour out of my Beam 6 grains before dinner yesterday and WLW 2007 after. I must have had an off day as none of them really teased my taste buds that evening.

One of my old college buddies stopped by here today, we enjoyed samples of Four Roses Small Batch, Noah's Mill, Old Charter Propietor's Reserve and WT Kentucky Spirit. He left, swearing he would buy a bottle of the FRSB on his way home. Nice little break in the day.

I've got a blend of bourbons (my own of course) to which I added mixed bitters, rocks, some fizzy water, and a good dash of Pernod 1970's issue from Randy Goode. It's a Sazerac-like drink, very tasty. The rocks and seltzer seem to bring out elements in the Pernod, like celery.

Wild Turkey Rye 101 over cracked ice with the AC blasting so cold my Bride is wearing long sleeve sweat shirt and pants.

Is not variety the spice of life? Mixing it up tonight with small pours of Woodford Reserve, then ND Old Taylor, followed by slope shouldered Old Charter from the BHC and a finale of last years Binny's hand selected Four Roses Barrel #3. This barrel of Four Roses is the orangeist bourbon I've ever tasted and Thank God air conditioning was invented.

MM 46 practicing at the bowling alley. Home now and having some 1970 Old Thompson. It's all good. Joe

EWBL here, wife and kid asleep and a nice breezy night on the mountain. Might crack that MM46 later, I've only had a single glass of it at a neighborhood bar.

Rittenhouse BIB both before and after dinner last night. It tasted dammed good yesterday!

Today I am tasting the 2009 antics with Borlänge bourbon boys.
