Grabbed a few discontinued label Weller 12s from early in the decade, along with some BHC VSOF and some more ND OGD. Forgot how fun it was to hunt in Southern Cal! But my pocket book is a hurtin.

Picked up another Makers 46 after the local gang "sampled" an entire bottle..... A real crowd pleaser especially for those who are newer to bourbon....... yet works well for those who have been around for a while...

When I got home today I found 12 bottles of 17 year old Willetts in a very secure box.

6 bottles from Barrel No. L 10-443 @ 133.2 prf.

6 bottles from barrel No. L 10 -7389 @ 144prf.

I can't say who distilled these beauties but I will say that they are Super-Wonderful bourbon.

Now if there was a way not to let Tony aka ACDetroit know that I have them then I don't have to give him his 6.

Let's keep it to ourselves, OK?;)

2 WTKS Pewter's from 11/24/98 @$39ea, 3 OFBIB Liters Distilled and Bottled at Old Fitz Distillery 1981 @$13.99ea, 1 OF Bonded 375 bottled in 1985 @$7ea, and 5 OF Repeal sets @$7ea...who said Chicago doesn't have any deals on dusty bourbon left! ;)

OK Reid, you made me do it. I had to try the MM 46. I was thinking it was going to be 92 proof for some reason  , but it is 94.

I will open this after the WTKS goes down...

You have placed far too much faith in my quite pedestrian palate......

Not purchased this week but picked up as of last night.

(3) 17 yr old Willett 133.2 proof (just amazing stuff, had the opportunity to try this last night with Big Dog. Quite a bit going on in this one, I found it really opens up in the glass after 30-40 minutes of sipping)

(3) 17 yr old Willett 144 proof (For being the higher proof of the 2 this one has almost zero burn on entry. I found this bootle to have a little more wood than the first, as it shows a hint of dryness. Also a stellar selection nice woork guys!)

(1) 17 yr old L'vill Bourbon Society Willett (Also a nice selection but it did take third in the tasting of the others)

(3) Barrel 13 NAS OWA from Cork and Bottle

(3) BArrel 14 NAS OWA from Cork and Bottle

(1) and (1) of the 2 bottlings Cork and Bottle FR1B

The Willett tasting was great, though tough to compair to the stuffed cabage and kraut made by Oscar's bride.

Cheers!

Tony

I, sadly, picked up a pint bottle of Red Stag. I thought for sure that it couldn't have been as bad as everyone was saying it was....well it is. Hopefully mixing it with coke will help.

Don't tell her I said it but I think the Elijah Craig 18yo bottled 8-23-91 was the hit of the night.

I have been more or less distracted in the last few years by graduate school. In the past we would make tours into bourbon country to select labels unavailable to us in Southern Florida or hard to find. This became hard to do of late. A solid 24 months of academic travel, research, writing, rewriting cumilated in my thesis defense on 31 July. Within hours of the defense and without response from the graduate comittee we headed out on a well needed, roughly planned sojourn toward the western USA. As we came back east I began my aquisitions of my Summer 2010 Post-Graduate School stash. Be prepared to see some of these bourbons show up as reviews in the coming months. Some are the mundane and some are the rare but all are very hard to obtain or totally unavailble in Southern Florida. The above photo shows about half of what we took home as we unpacked. Notice the filled decanters in the front....!

I went out to get an IKEA shelf unit. Naturally, it was to fortify the bunker which had overflowed onto the floor. Somehow, it turned into a bourbon buying trip. Go figure?

I found a BT experimental and some of the FR special bottlings. It's the first time that I've seen them in MD (since we've only been Rosey for about 10 months now).

2 x EWSB '99 for the bunker

BT expermental - 2 barrels

2 x 2009 FR Mariage

Four Roses OBSK special bottling

Van Winkle lot B - it was $36 and I couldn't walk by. I'm weak!

IKEA shelf unit to hold bunker overflow

Thanks for that tip. The green decanter is also Beam and the Brown/Gold one is Ezra Books. Oh, and I am kicking myself in the butt over those decanters....I left a few behind in the shop because my wife didn't think we could manage to get them home. Well, I guess she was wrong as we get them home plus a whole lot more! Pardon me if I am a bit secretive about the location of that honey pot....I intend to find some way to complete my pillage of it from Florida...

Just bought 2 bottles of standard Makers Mark.

Then dumped them in a container and added a lot of fresh figs. Had this at a restaurant in New Orleans (one of John Besh's for any celebrity chef fans) and it really turned this into a fantastic sweet alcohol (they also used it in a fantastic cocktail). Hopefully it will turn out the same as theirs and I will be able to bring it to KBF

3 Bottles of Pappy 20 @ $86.99 at my local shop.

I'm really happy about the price, and that there are 9 more bottles sitting in a bunker waiting for me to claim them if I feel I'm running low.

I just tasted the 20 for the first time a month ago (not for lack of trying to find it to test). I can't believe that it makes the 15 taste like a youngster.

I'm in love...

Visited Julio's today and got to hang out with Ryan for a bit...I ended up picking up a couple bottles to bring back to Chicago with me:

2 JRPS 18yr unchill filtered

1 FR 100th Anniversary OBSV

1 FR BS Julio's OESO

2 Smuttynose RY(E)AN-beer aged for 8 months in BT and FR barrels

That was a quick $340...
