sgtgto
I picked up a few Old Charter 7 year and some Old Forester BIB's from the 80's last night and a handleof Old Fitz Prime from the early 90's yesterday afternoon. Without hunting through previous posts and just thinking out loud, the Old Charter came in the original case from DSP16. Is it a wheater? Probably not but what other labels (non-wheaters) were distilled at SW?
tommyboy38
Thank you sir!! Searched around a bit but didn't find too much info. Where was OC distilled in Louisville?
sgtgto
DSP 2 - the old Bernheim plantOC was purchased by BERNHEIM Distilling Co in 1933. In 1937, Bernheim was purchased by Schenley. Then in 1987, Schenley was purchased by United Distillers. S-W was bought by Norton-Simon in 72, then by UD in '84 by Diageo, who joined with UD in '87.DSP 16 was closed to distilling in '92-'93 but continued bottling after that. callmeox
A one liter in KY? This is interesting.Yeah, I thought it was an oddball, but p_elliot said that he saw many of the same on the shelf when he attended the spring gathering in Houston. Good Lawd, what part of the state were you in? Looks like I need to spend some more time hunting.I was in the bourbony part of the state, of course. :cool:The three handles were all sourced from the same place. After telling me that they had been there "forever", the proprietor flagged me down in the parking lot to let me know that she found one more in the back and she inquired if I was interested in that one, too.

Not squat but an irritated wife I wish I would have known.. I would have told you not to go there. I made the same mistake months ago. ESTL looks like it would be ripe with dusties.. but it is completely void.

unclebunk
Will be picking up a bottle of VOB 90 today for a friend, as I feel guilty for killing off the bulk of the Lot B we gave him on Saturday for his birthday. He's a guy who likes things simple and straightforward but of good quality--he found the Lot B "too complex" (his words, not mine)--so I'm hoping the VOB is more to his liking. His brother and I actually viewed our rapid consumption of the gifted Lot B as a "favor" of sorts, since the recipient didn't particularly like it. (He switched over to Maker's Mark after one decent pour.) Hmm...given how things worked out, maybe I should be buying him a bottle of GTS or Sazerac 18. nor02lei
It came a parcel from Germany today and it did contain:2 Beam 6 grains for myself and one for BBB.WT 8 export for BBB.13 years uncut HH distilled a few month before the fire bottled by Cadenheads for myself and BBB.2 Fernet Branca for myself.Bulleit 90 proof for myself.2 Stagg 137,6 proof for myself.Woodford reserve for myself. As I did check the bottles I did se that the Woodford was 86,4 instead of 90,4 as on their home page so I did mail and claimed a new bottle of 90,6 or payment back. The Cadenheads had been 10 years on the home page, but I did think 13 years for the same price was ok.Leif
SMOWK
A bottle of OFBB 2010 showed up for me at a local shop, $45 out the door (kind of steep IMO). I was so disappointed with the 2009 release that I only ordered one. The 2008 was great though, so I couldn't resist. If it's good, I'll consider a few more. Although at $45, I might hold out for other seasonals.
sgtgto
2 750s of WT 8 year. I left behind a liter and a few 750s of it.. there is just so much out there. Count your blessings.Sazerac Rye for me today. One of the few whiskeys I don't mind venturing into the $28-32 range for. I usually buy the bourbons between 10 and 22 $, or jump up above 60 and beyond for the special releases, but don't dabble in the mid-range much.
