Old Forester Bottled in Bond. Distilled DSP 354 Bottled DSP 414. 94 on the bottom. Very nice drink. Cherries, other fruit, corn, caramel on the palate. Nice finish. Very nice drink. Looking forward to it again in a month or so after it opens up some.

Starting out with some Four Roses small batch and probably finish the evening with a pour of Buffalo Trace.

Was at a bar with a decent whiskey selection tonight in NYC and had a few pours that I hadn't had before. Started out with Four Roses (Yellow Label - not available in ATL) which was very decent, then moved to a Michter's, which was ok - way too short on the finish, and then had a Sazerac Rye. Got back to my parent's apartment and my dad and I compared his PVW 15 to the ORVW 10/107 that I purchased earlier today - I'm not sure which one of those won out, by my dad and I were certainly winners!

Last night I made some disparaging remarks about 4R Yellow Label which was the seal breaking pour. Tonight I poured 2 cups into a measuring cup from about 10 inches high so there was agitation in the cup. I then poured it back into the bottle before pouring into a Glencairin to the middle of the bowl......WOW what a difference!!!!! I just may drink the whole bottle before the wife gets a "Chapeze-tini" out of it. 4R Yellow Label just may be a standard in my line up.

I just may have to get one of those wine aerators to "wake up" a new bottle that isn't living up to it's reputation/potential.

After going to a whisky dinner arranged by my single malt club and a restaurant last night, I had JDSS, Weller 7/107 1985 and OGD 114. They all tasted good and better than the single malts we got with the food. The dinner arrangement was pretty nice anyway.

Had my first taste of Hancock's PR last night. Thought it was really good. Lots of chocolate on the nose. Very spicy, but with a nice kick of vanilla. I don't hear much about this one, but I for one thought it was very good, and is under-rated.

Not much talk about Hancock, sorta the step child of the bunch. I like it but leave in on the shelf in deference to other choices. In our area it costs as much as Blantons or Rock Hill but doesn't seem to distinguish itself enough compared to those two.

Taking it easy tonight with Makers Mark. A whiskey drinking friend came over last night and we finished off the Four Roses Yellow and the Buffalo Trace. Woke up with an angry woodpecker in my head.

Old Ezra 7/101 on Saturday night. Pleasant enough but not something I'd seek out often. I know others here have expressed more fondness for it but I found it a tad thin. Good for a night of mindless drinking while playing cards, I guess.

Just cracked a new bottle of Stagg last night, poured it lovingly over a frozen Whiskey Disk, contemplated what was to come for a few minutes while the chilled soapstone did its work, then sat down in my favorite chair and let Mr. Stagg keep me company for a while. Life's small rituals are the best.

I'm having a very special pour of black 2010 WLW.

Yes, I just killed the bottle.

It's BT's version of Devils Cut.

Looking at the last few pours in a bottle of Barton 50% musing on how quick was the journey.

Cracked the PHC I picked up today. Enjoying my bounty before storing it away for a more special occasion. Nose a little tight straight, but flavor is grand. Just a little water really releases the nose with the vanilla, caramel and toffee for me. But it just doesn't have the same full taste. Maybe after letting the bottle settle for a while will bring me the best of both worlds straight up. :yum:

I finally got around to opening my 2010 G T Stagg on Saturday.

Sipping some neat now and trying to figure out why Hansell selected the entire BTAC as the whiskey of the year.

Didn't care for it on Sat but now it has calmed down and drinkable but it's my least favorite Stagg as is the 2010 Larure.

Maybe that's why Hansell picked the entire group because none could stand alone.

From PHC last night, to the opposite end of the spectrum (price-wise) with some Weller SR. I really need to get my hands on some of the different Wellers. May be my favorite value pour.
