Had one of the most fun drinking nights last night for Valentine's Day. The fiance was not feeling well last night so changed plans and stayed in. Well what other way is there to cure a cold? Drink some whiskey!

Soooo...said honey how bout we taste test tonight so you can try the entire gauntlet in my arsenal, she agreed so took sips off the following and her favorite's there after.

PVW20

PVW15

VWPR12

Thomas H. Handy 2010

Sazarac 18 2010

WLW 2010

GTS 2010

ORVW10/107

Four Roses SB

Blanton SB

OGD 100

Makers Mark

Knob Creek

She hated the Sazarac 18, the only one she disliked. Her top 3 were THH, Four Roses and the WLW. Found it pretty interesting, she really loved the "smell" of the WLW. I have really made quite a move with her from only drinking bourbon mixed to now with water and some with just ice. I felt pretty proud doing so.

ORVW 10/107, neat from a bottle that has "09" on the bottom and I am just not feeling it or maybe it needs some time.

All this j.w dant talk got me wanderin', is the current j.w dant worth looking into? A local liquor store has tons of it, but I'm pretty sure it's new stock

Current Dant is not a whiskey I would reach for....

A little Virginia Gentleman "The Fox" is proving to be a splendid complement with the grilled Teriyaki Chicken I worked up tonight.

Bourbons, with good food pairings, are undervalued in our little SB world, I'm afraid. Some of my best bourbon experiences have come when paired with some type of food/meal. Like tonight's, for instance. I know I'll be moving on to one of my favorite dessert pairings...Baby Saz and a fudgsicle. :yum:

Had some EC12. It has really been hitting the spot lately. It's hard to believe that I really didn't care for it when I first tried this bottle. Will buy again for sure.

I started out on the wrong note with an equal vatting of 86 proof Rebel Yell from '83 with current OWA 107. I had tried this before and liked it but not tonight. Turned things around a little with the last 15 ml out of an Old Fitz DSP 16, also from '83 Then some '81 OF BIB from DSP 414. Closed out the night with 5ml sips of VOB BIB, regular KC and WTRB. I think I was on a mission to destroy any memory of my first wayward pour.

I was fortunate to have a friend in Florida recently and made the effort to find the BOTM.

Very impressed with this bourbon!! Since I've not had the opportunity to experience this spirit, I took my time. I nosed it for about 15 minutes on and off. I had this neat and added about 15% of room temp water.

Strong scents of - vanilla and carmel

Light scents of - charred oak and coffe bean

One regret!!

I only had one bottle picked up :hot:

I just opened a bottle of Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit and much to my suprise the cork didn't break.

The stats of this pewter top is as follows;

Bottled On: 3-21-01

Barrel No: 9

Warehouse: E

Rick No: 12

Of all the WTKS's in the bunker this one is the lightest in color so I wasn't expecting much but the nose on this one is as deep as any Turkey I've ever had.

Also it has that sweet/rye taste that last forever.

Another classic Turkey.

I had my first ever drink if WT RR 10 yo. I've been a fan of WT101 and Rare Breed and the RR did not disappoint. I questioned the 90 proof before drinking it, but it certainly wasn't lacking in flavor-it had the classic WT profile. WT is probably the only bourbon I could identify in a blind taste test. There is just something different.

I've had a couple of pours of WLW 2010 with a bit of water.

Tasty as ever and I'm glad I have several of these in reserve.

Woodford Reserve, batch 69 (375ml), today & yesterday. Despite the lukewarm reviews on the board, I am enjoying it. I find it's easy to drink, if not terribly vibrant or complex, which fits my current mood.

I have felt something coming on for a couple of days and now it's official.

I just had a pour of ORVW 10/107 and I didn't like it, yep I am sick.
