Benchmark with 7up, working on mixing ideas while still wrestling with the Knob Creek cork.

I'm sipping on some Pappy 20 to honor the winner of today's Daytona 500...20 year old Trevor Bayne.

WTKS bottled on 5/24/99...I'm down to my last couple pours on this bottle...I'm really gonna miss this bottle.

Since tomorrow is a bank holiday, I am moving on to a drinking and driving session.

The drink is a 2:1 vatting of EC 18 and PS Willett 3 YO. The Willett wakes up the tired woody notes of the EC while adding in some zip.

The driving is Gran Turismo 5 on P3.

Had some Buffalo Trace tonight - I'm in New York for the week and it is very weird buy liquor on Sunday (Georgia doesn't allow any alcohol sales on Sundays). This was my dad's first taste of Buffalo Trace...I think it has found a new fan!

Enjoyed a vatting of EC18 and PS Willett 3 Year 123.1 proof. Didn't measure anything, just put in a splash of the Willett at the end. Next time I'll note the proportions, I think it worked out quite well. The younger bourbon added some strength, took a little off of the sometimes tannic finish of the EC, yet retained the fabulous nose.

Had you read my post from a few hours ago or do great minds just think alike?

To be completely honest, I felt like Gillmanizing and two logical candidates were side by side in my cabinet. Perhaps your post was a subliminal influence, but I don't recall thinking "me too" when I read it.

No matter what, it is a good combo.

I opened up a bottle of Bond and Lillard from the early to mid 80's. Light and butterscotchy. Very pleasant.

2:1 vatting of noah's mill and four roses smb. Turns out they complement each other quite well, especially in the finish.

The last several days I've been toying around with FRSmB (My first FR experience). But tonight it's back to EC12.

Something lighter, 45% Weller Special Reserve.

Nothing wrong with that squire. Many a night that is my go to pour for the first(and second:o ) nip.
