I just picked up a PVW15, Stagg, passed on a second Stagg and 3 Handy and 4 ORVWFR. I spoke with the staff and he said that the bottles showed up from his distributor yesterday. He thinks, after my suggestion, that the distributor was holding on to stock and now that the fall releases are coming was releasing all his inventory to make room for the new stuff.

Is this a normal practice that I am just finding out about, does this happen elsewhere?

Nothing fancy today, some EW black and Mellow Corn. The MC is actually cheaper up here than it was down south.

Retailer friend of mine let me pick up a Pappy 15 at $55 that he had hiding in the back.

He knows the fall allocation is coming, so he didn't mind.

Since the David Nicholson topic of label run-over came back up recently I thought I would add this. I recently got a bottle of Old Fitzgerald Prime 86 proof. The bottle is stamped 06 and has a laser code of 42 21 102 06 13 on the bottom. The interesting part is that it has an 88508 bar code on the back label. It's in the old squatty Weller style bottle and not the taller HH bottle. I thought they had switched away from the squat bottle during the 90's. Who knows what's inside (I'm curious if its even 86 proof instead of 80). I guess I'll find out someday.

In Chicago for the next week, so my first stop after arriving was Binny's (on Grand). Picked up a bottle of FR OESV to take home and a Binnys selection BT to drink here. May have to take a trek to the South Loop store while I'm in town.

While on vacation in PCB Florida I just picked up 2 bottles of '10 Thomas Handy for $33.99. I assume they were marked wrong!

I needed some bourbon for a dish I am going to cook later today so I went out and got a bottle of Old Charter 10yo.

Also an Old Grand Dad 114 because I haven't had any in ages and someone mentioned it in another thread recently and made me think of it.

And a bottle of Four Roses Single Barrel because the warehouse code was different than the other ones I have on hand.

Picked up a bottle of Thomas H Handy Saz this morning. Some friends and I polished off my bottle last weekend and it was time to pick up a replacement. Also picked up a bottle of Eagle Rare for a dessert I'm making this evening.

Four Roses Yellow Label, newly available in Ontario. Good news, since this is one of the best bourbons on the market today IMO, at any age. And it is priced right, at $28.00, a few dollars more than I've seen (generally) in the U.S. but not bad for a quality import here.

A bottle of Elmer T. Lee and one of Bulleit rye. Two more bottles of 1975 Glenrothes just happened to follow me home as well.

Today take was a bottle of Willett Rye 4yr, 110 proof. While I wanted to grab more than one, after my recent Jefferson Rye experience, thumbs down, I exercised some self control. Plus they had a loa of it on the shelf.

Besides, I keep telling myself, I can be good now, and then let loose that control in about 2+ weeks.

Had a nice chat with on of the buyers at the store today also, he was explaining how not really that long along, how easy it was for them to order whatever they wanted of the BTAC, but now that it has really hit the mainstream, allocation is the word of the day.

2x 200 ml Old Charter 8yo w/ faux tax stamp

2x 375 ml Old Forester BiB (DSP 414)

1x Weller 12yo

1x Four Roses SB

Interestingly, I saw a ton of the OC, all of which looked brand new, at three different stores in one town. According to one store owner, they just showed up recently. I'm guessing a distributor found a few cases somewhere and shipped them out.

2 x OForrester 100 proof. One of my favorites, and it sounds like the BIB and Signature versions are pretty similar, so should have no problem getting more.

Tried searching for an OFo Prohibition Release today, but the most likely store was out of power, and the other has bad construction on the road which makes it impossible to get in and get out.

There's always another day!
