An Aug. 17 K&L blog post by David Driscoll reads:"The return of the 1824 should also please some rum fans out there. The bottle is labeled as a 12 year old, but the blend contains barrels well over 20 years in age. A bold, spicy, bourbon-like rum that could be thrown into a blind whiskey tasting and very well win first prize. This statement kind of intrigues me and scares me off at the same time. If I'm drinking rum I want to know it's rum..not some spirit that can be confused with bourbon. Gillman Posted August 20, 2011 Share Posted August 20, 2011 I know the product well. It's not just the age but the evident pot still treatment that gives the rum the distinctive oily flavour.
