Has anyone tried Angostura 1824 Rum? An Aug. 17 K&L blog post by

David Driscoll reads:

"The return of the 1824 should also please some rum fans out there.

The bottle is labeled as a 12 year old, but the blend contains barrels

well over 20 years in age. A bold, spicy, bourbon-like rum that could

be thrown into a blind whiskey tasting and very well win first prize.

Fantastic stuff."

Sounds like a pretty bold claim but I'll admit I am now curious to try

the 1824.

This statement kind of intrigues me and scares me off at the same time. If I'm drinking rum I want to know it's rum..not some spirit that can be confused with bourbon.

I know the product well. It's not just the age but the evident pot still treatment that gives the rum the distinctive oily flavour. To me it doesn't taste like single malt or pot still bourbon as such but the pot still connection to these is very evident.
