A few of us got together back in June. Kind of a sketchy bunch, though...http://www.straightbourbon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15953

I visited our friends over at Julios in MA to pick up the lottery bottle of PVW20. A also grabbed a bunch of their selected bourbons.

I brought back:

-PVW20

-OWA 107 Signature Bottling

-Elmer T Lee Signature Bottling

-Four Roses CS SB (i forget the # but, it was bottled at 59.7% and is damn good, I popped it last night)

-Four Roses Limited Edition SB

-Bernheim Signature Bottling

-Blantons Signature Bottling

all in all a pretty good haul.

I popped the 4R CS and it was delicious as expected.

I also tried the Bernhiem as it was recommended by Ryan the owner. It has a very nice profile and a lot of potential, I just wish it was bottled at 95-105 proof instead of the 90. Seemed a little too tame for me but, I am sure some will find it exceptional.

I have not gotten into the others yet but, will post my thoughts when I do.

Yesterday I picked up a 200ml bottle of Evan Williams, because I never tried it. Tasted it last night, and I'm glad I only got the small bottle.

I also got a Maker's Mark gift set, because I wanted the glasses that came with it. I like the glasses but didn't really care for the wax drippings, so I already removed red wax from the glasses.

I called a place last week that I know usually gets Van Winkle stuff in and asked if she had any. She said no, but she could order it. I'm usually really skeptical but always just tell them what I want on the off chance they somehow get it. Despite the fact that when I called it had basically come and gone at every other local store already, I got a call telling me she had 2 bottles of rye and a PVW20. I didn't expect any based on past experience so 2 more ryes was a pleasant surprise today.

Stumbled upon a bottle of '09 Stagg as well as a few '10s today. Picked up one of both. Left some Ritt BIB on shelf @ $19...now regretting that mistake.

I've been on a budget bourbon buying binge lately. I think they are all decent, very drinkable pours:

JTS Brown BIB

OC 10yr

OFitz BIB

OE 101

There's plenty of BMH16 around here these days, and most of it runs $125-$160. Well today I found one for $90, and being annual bonus day it most certainly came home with me.
