PVW 15

OFBB 2011

I wasn't on any lists for The VW allocation, but I lucked out and was able to snag one. At least it's my first PVW15, so I won't have any SW to compare it to.

Shipping questions for bourbon.

Ok first off how do places like shoppers vineyard, partysource..etc able to ship to pretty much all states. One can ship to Alabama the other can't. Both have alcohol licenses I assume.

I had my uncle in Florida pick up some large orders of Pappy for me. Wanted him to ship some too me through fedex or ups, seems like its never an issue with anyone on here or out there. I will never ship through usps as I know the federal laws associated. However I was told by lawyer friends that ups and fedex is not against the law it's just a business requirement set by corporate.

I say this because they immediate x-ray'd it and told him you know this is a felony, this was with fedex. Does not make sense to me, I have only done ups but wanted to see what other's thought on this.

I don't know about it being a felony but they have tight rules about it.

Fedex will do shipments from licensed entities to consumers, but not consumers to consumers.

UPS, if I remember right, will ship wine only from licensed entities to consumers. For liquor I think they only will ship from one licensed entity to another.

Picked up a small batch sampler gift set. For $22, I figured it was worth giving Basil Hayden, Bookers, Knob Creek, and Bakers another try.

Another Pappy 20 today.

Best regards, tony

There is a bunch of the 20 year still out there. You should be able to get your fill.

After much waffling and deliberation, I purchased a TPS JPS 18 tonight. Expectations are high. I also picked up my Vintage 17 wheated and TPS Willett 17 wheated that I purchased online a few weeks ago. Merry Christmas to me! Although, the woman put her foot down in future bourbon purchases as the recent bourbon budget haa been a little out of control.

Willett 17 is very good imo. The Willett 8 was one of the best value bottles I owned and when I looked into getting more I was sad to see it was all gone.

I am curious to see what you think of the Vintage and Willett. Never tried them, but have read good things.

I haven't opened the willett yet, the vintage 17 was very good, I will soon do a side by side of these 2. The JPS 18 was excellent. The aroma is incredible. The flavor opened up after a few minutes. Compared to the JPS 17 I have, the finish seemed longer and more enjoyable. I know that most on here prefer higher proofs, but I really enjoyed both the V17 and JPS 18 at 94 proof. Both were good neat, and even better with literally 2-3 drops of water. The JPS was a little heavy on the wood in aroma at first, this dissipated after a few minutes and a lot of butterscotch, caramel, and brown sugar started shining.

I was in Indy yesterday and stopped by Kahn's and tasted their private bottlings FR OESO and OBSQ. Both very tasty and very different. I both a bottle of each. Also picked up info about their K Klub. I was told that they take a bus of members to Kentucky usually once a year to pick out barrels of bourbon. Anyone done this? I am definitely interested in joining the Klub just for this benefit alone

I went with a 1.75 of Tom Moore BIB for $21.99. I noticed the store had gotten in VOB 86 proof 750's and were selling them for $19.99.

Ok....1.75 of 5 yr 100 proof Barton juice or 750 of 6 yr 86 proof Barton juice for $2 less. Tough decision.

That store is ignorant. With their independent ownership and franchise prices. You know who you are! (Monticello Liquor)

Could not pass up a $68 bottle of Handy last nite. Appears to have been there a while with some dust buildup since '07. Going to try to expand my horyezons with this one beyond VWFRR, Ritt BIB & Saz Jr. Wish I could find some Vintage but never seen it in this neck of woods.

Found Yellow Label 4R on sale for $7.99 and had to pick it up. Since I did such a good job saving money there, I didn't feel bad picking up two bottles of PVW 20 that I stumbled across this afternoon.

Merry Christmas to me.

In St. Louis, great prices are most consistently found at The Wine And Cheese Place. They have a few locations, but he Clayton store has the biggest stock. Starr's also has a nice selection and some items are priced well. And even the big place, Friar Tucks has some real good prices on the cheaper bourbons (but they're too high on med to premium stuff. Shop N Save had the 4 Roses for $11.99.

Randall's has a real nice selection too, but I'm rarely pleased with their pricing. Seem to be 10% to 20% too high in general, but not on everything.

The list I posted came from 4 different places. There's no real consistency to pricing on the cheap stuff. Sometimes the pricier stores will blow out the cheap ones.

Wine and Cheese place is my go-to.

Wow. I'd be going nuts on that 114. The RITT and 107 are nice as well.
