Traded for a PVW 15 and an ORVW 10/107 yesterday.

Got a call from a place today saying they were holding a PVW 15 for me and it was the last day to pick it up. I'd already given up my bottle from this store to another SB.com-er who picked it up under the ruse of delivering it to me, and told 'em this but that I'd still be happy to pick it up if they wanted. And so I did.

Pondering the bottle or two of PVW20 that should still be available out my way. It's been an expensive fall, but winter is coming....

Just my opinion & 2 cents: don't pass it up, you will regret if you do...I have a lot of experience...lol

TPS Bowman SB Bourbon, TPS Bowman Rye and EC 12 (co-worker gift). Thanks to Erichpryde for the recommendation. Can't wait to try them.

Peer pressure! Just grabbed the last two.

With the bunker at its current size, my New Year's resolution is to buy no spirits in 2012. I certainly won't have to do so, but know that at some point I'll "need" to....

Four Roses yellow label. I'm flying budget class due to holiday gift buying, and this is my first Four Roses purchase ever.

I saw some of Four Roses non-bourbon blended American stuff at a party many years ago, and tasted it.

Thanks to an SB.com thread about the return of Four Roses, I'm looking forward to getting over that deeply traumatic experience.

Oh and I thought it funny that TPS had the Bowman rye 90 proof right next to the 138 for the same price. seemed liked a no brainer to me.

They would by my standard. Have one of the same stashed away for snowy day by the fire.

Only if they have dust on them. High traffic store?

If they're dusties or not doesn't matter. They're very good. Buy all of those that you can.

Managed to grab a VWFRR, a PVW 23 year and 12 year. Pulled a fast one at the store when the clerk just had them on the counter. "Limit 1 per person". "One of each?" "...yes". Then as he's about to ring me up he answers a phone call and disappears. Queue like 25 people who walk into the store who start saying they want to see the manager (hint hint). I swipe the guys on the counter and get in line. "Can't ring you up yet, I don't think they're in the system." An agonizing 20 minutes later the manager came out saying she'd give every person one bottle. I just went to the farthest register, paid and then got the hell out of dodge just as someone pointed out I had 3.

The panic in the room was palpable. And the clerk's total ignorance just fueled the fire. He'd take down a few people's requests and then stopped taking them down. He wouldn't take down my name for William Laure Weller because it "doesn't sound like Pappy". One guy came in with 4 people and everyone else thought they wouldn't get any because "it comes in packs of 4". Some guy just went to the back window and whoever was stocking just gave him a bottle out right.

There are many state stores that I love that are farther away from Seattle. I hope they land ok from 1183. But this specific store is the exact reason the state should never be in this business. I'm guessing we'll see some price inflation for these when everything goes private, but I'd happily pay a little more for the convenience of a good manager who will happily take my name for next year because I took the time to come in and talk to him. There's no "first come first serve" if you didn't take the time organize things the day of.

And the manager of the store who hung up on me when I mentioned Van Winkle? Fuck you.

Fortunate enough to have my brother grab a PVW15 in CO. We'll give it a go over Christmas, I'm eager to see if I notice a difference between this and last years. I'm the type that if no one told me it was different that I'd notice at all. People were just as eager to get PVW15 at the store today, so unless it's a terrible bourbon or they change the label, it'll still be a highly sought after product.

All in all a good day.

Wow, crazy day Chris. Glad you scored a rye. Typical bs from the state run stores. I hope you're filing a complaint on that manager because s/he will go far in the real world come July, NOT.

I found VOB 100 proof today in Dallas at Goodies Greenville/Walnut Hill. Never seen it before, always TM BIB. Seen a stray bottle of 86 around but never the 100. $15 a bottle, not bad. I think a first of the year case purchase is in order.

I picked up a Jefferson's Reserve Presidential Select 18 for $70 today. I got an email from a store I frequent and this was their deal of the day for the 12 days of Christmas. It was titled "Pappy van Winkle?" so they certainly caught my eye with that. But for $70 I am sure I will be happy.

Still contemplating picking up a Thomas H Handy from another store I frequent after trying the Sazerac 18 the other day. I'll probably do it come next pay day if there are some left. Tis a shame I figured I wouldn't like rye and passed on the Saz when I saw it in stores last month.

Stopped in a store I'd been in many times before today...They have cleaned up the boxes on the floor and now everything is on the shelves.

It was nice to see I had missed these over the years of going in, but glad they were there today.

I didn't buy any due to my vow of yesterday, but was surprised today to see Buffalo Trace in a one-liter bottle at Costco today for $24.99.

Vine & Table had a flash-sale for the Jefferson's Presidential 18 and I had to bite. Best price I've seen. I'm worried now. As a Single Malt Scotch devotee, my last 3 purchases have been Bourbons...

have fun,

aaron
