Yesterday I stopped to buy some EW eggnog and saw some of the Willett Family Reserve Rye 4yo 110 proof. Seemed like a fair deal for $32.49, so I bought bottle number 135/192 from barrel 47. Haven't opened it yet but probably will this weekend.

Another PHC 2010 today. Going broke a drop at a time.

Best regards, tony

I scored another of these today. A relatively good deal at 78 each. This month has been costly with several of the Vintage rye, Bowman Rye, Van winkle rye and now the PHC finding homes in the bunker- I fear for my liver... (and bank account)

I've been out of ETL for a while, so I picked up a bottle of that, and a bottle of Hancock's President's Reserve while Christmas shopping last night. And, for some unknown reason, I felt compelled to place a bottle of that Southern Comfort Fiery Pepper stuff in my cart. I just looked at it again this morning sitting on the bar, and I still don't know why I did that...

Well, I was going to bring the bottle Brown Forman sent with me on the 14th but now that you've got your own I guess I'll just bring the Spiced Red Stag:grin:

Trio of Rittenhouse Rye BIB's fresh off of the truck. Pair of Jefferson's 18yr. And one Handy.

Wasn't planning on cellaring another Handy, but when it's given to you as a gift, who's going to argue?

I don't buy much bourbon anymore - yes, believe it or not we all reach that time when enough is enough, but I did a little hunting recently and turned up some Lawrenceburg treasures. The Rye isn't L'burg, but still any VW Rye is good, and I'd never seen a 3 digit number.

Great find. How many does that make?

As for myself, I did a little hunting through MI as I made my way home. Picked up a Baby Saz, THH 2011, OFBB 2011, and WTAS. Left some of each (as well as a few others) behind also.

:slappin: I thought so too...

I guess I missed the humor; although your alma mater's logo is pretty funny looking.

I wanted to see what they had in Farragut and nothing was on sale so that was not good. But I did get a half gallon of 6YO 90Proof Very Old Bartons. I think they are stopping the 6YO so was glad to get it. The Bottled in Bond was not a savings so I got the 90.

Three so far, need to find more but very scarce in Michigan. Looking to start buying online, I have one test order on the way.

Here's my haul from yesterday. Or, I should say, my wife's haul. I knew from asking around that the BTAC and the Van Winkle was due to arrive in the Seattle area sometime toward the last half of this month. I didn't really have any strategy in mind, I just planned to hit a couple of stores and see what I could find when word got out that the deliveries had been made. Looked like a slow couple of weeks, so no problem grabbing my coat and leaving on short notice.

Then, on Wednesday, I saw Chris24's post. It was go time. Looked at my calendar, and hell, it was wall to wall meetings prepping for CES in January. Out of luck I guess. My wife had a short day planned at work and felt badly for me I suppose. She volunteered to go shopping for me. I thought that was a nice gesture, but I thought it was pretty futile as she was only likely to hit places near her work, and much later in the day. She wanted to go though, and who am I to turn down help?

She called early in the afternoon to tell me she was stopping at the liquor store closest to her office as there was an open parking space in front of the door. I told her that's not how those things worked, but I was wrong. Apparently the truck had just shown up and she ended up at the front of a quickly growing line. I believe that's where she got the Handy and an ORVW 12 (not pictured). Most importantly, she got a delivery schedule from the manager and the phone number of a guy in line that was going to hit some of the stores that weren't on her itinerary. Critically, the hook was set and she was locked in on A Mission.

She spent the rest of the afternoon on the phone, networking with other shoppers, harassing store managers, and horse trading out of the trunk of her car. I just had no idea.

The only downside to the whole thing is that I didn't get a Family Reserve Rye, the bottle that had been #1 on my list. I used to regularly get that at the U Village store near my house. I had no idea it was hard to find. I assumed they had been restocking, but I think I had just been buying repeatedly from the same shipment of bottles that somehow had gotten stashed on the bottom shelf of the Canadian section.

So if anybody in the Seattle area has any interest, I'm looking to trade the ER 17 and/or maybe a Pappy 20 for a Family Reserve Rye. Anyone interested?
