Is this vaulted church like space really where the stills in the Dublin distillery are located? Seems a touch over the top!

Haven't tried TB bourbon in a while but it was not particularly noteworthy as I recall at that time. Low proof and youngish tasting without much of, well, anything.

The stills in Lexington where it is made are pot stills, unlike most bigger producers who use column stills, but not sure who made them. I have also read that they cook with a sort of gelatinous corn for the mash which doesn't sound all that appealing but don't know first hand.

You can definitely do better for a bourbon in my opinion!

Yes, this is the distillery. It is the converted St. James Church of Ireland church on James St Dublin just up the road from Guinness's brewery. There has been churches on the site from the middle ages. the current structure dates from 1879 . It lost its steeple in 1949 and fell into disuse .The church was deconsecrated  and was for many years a lighting showroom before being acquired by Pearse Lyons . As the church was dedicated to St. James it served as the starting point of the pilgrim route to Santiago de Compostela in northern Spain. BTW Pearse Lyons grandfather was buried in the graveyard attached to the church in 1948.

Cheers,

Charlie

I was gifted a bottle of their Town Branch bourbon and found it underwhelming as well. My wife and I toured their distillery in Lexington a few years ago where I was able to taste the Pearse Lyon's Reserve and I thought it  was much better (which is still not saying a lot)
