What kind of bubbly are you drinking tonight?

Tonight I'll be indulging in a few bottles Moet & Chandon Imperial... found 'em on sale for $32 yesterday!

Anyone else have a huge affinity for champagne? I can honestly say I love it almost as much as I love whiskey...

To me, champagne is champagne, I've had Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicqout, etc... That taste just as nice to me as many ≤$20 bottles. Maybe my palate isn't as refined as some, but for as little as I drink champagne, I don't care to shell out much more than $20 a bottle for the bubbly, especially since there are so many good bottles in that range.

Tonight I will likely go for a bottle of Gruet Blanc de Noirs or some Mumm Napa Brut Prestige.

Usually sells for $21.99 but have seen it on sale as low as $16.99 around my parts, its a steal. Really good value, which is hard to find out of Napa (still wines included).

My friends and I had a blind tasting about 5 years ago and Andre Extra Brut ($5 bottle) won. Ever since then I just stick with the Andre. I do like champagne, but I can't really discern any difference between the cheap stuff and the good stuff, i am sure there is a difference, I just don't taste it.

When in New Mexico was introduced and developed an appreciation of the Gruet line of Champagnes (esp. the Blanc de Blancs).

Mentioned in a recent WSJ article on sparking wines as one of the best under $20.
