Dolph Lundgren
I was drinking some Oro Azul Anejo (older bottle with the black wax and cord top) last night and enjoying it. Its not mind blowing, but I recommend it if you come across some. It has a nice earth and caramel thing going on, and the agave flavor is not overpowering and is balanced.I also had some Siembre Azul Extra Anejo Suro a couple nights ago (buddy got a sample from another buddy). It's aged in American Oak for 5 years, and from a bourbon drinker's perspective, it's mind-blowing. It was sweet like bourbon, but less caramel and vanilla and more sucrose sweetness (like corn syrup / candy corn). It wasn't cloying, either, and for being 80pf, the finish was long. I guess its limited to around 500 bottles. That's too bad because I'd buy this stuff by the case. Guess I need to try out some more Extra Anejos... unclebunk
If Hi Time still had El Grado, I'd recommend that. It's only $10.99 and made at the same distillery (and a similar profile to) as Corrido was. Olvido from NOM 1079 was only $12 and has the great profile that 1079 juices have for a fraction of the price. Same can be said for Herencia Mexicana from the same distillery. Then I would probably go with Reserva de Mexico. It's a bit more mild on the spice, but full flavored and tasty. And if you can find it, I would recommend Viva Mexico over anything except Muchote (they're both NOM 1414, so the repos are similar). All of these brands are stellar for the price. As always, thanks for the info. I think I've got two bottles of El Grado (one open) and several Muchote's in the bunker but never grabbed any of the others. I'll keep a look out for Viva Mexico now that you've mentioned it. We've got some fabulous Mexican-owned liquor stores not far from where I live that tend to have deep tequila selections so I'll be checking the shelves on my next hunt. I did manage to find another Corrido Anejo for $50 which was cool but continue to kick myself for not buying more from Hi Time when they were available (as well as the Dos Lunas). Max Power
Sipping on some Centinela 3yr Anejo while the family puts up Christmas decorations. What did you think. I brought a couple of sample bottles of Suerte Añejo and Don Nacho to Vegas with me. Don Nacho is another really good value at $25. And who doesn't love the same Don Nacho...? Don Nacho is another really good value at $25. And who doesn't love the same Don Nacho...?It's got some characteristics I enjoy similar to Corrido Anejo or Don Pilar Anejo - some of the sweetness and oak/vanilla notes complement the agave well. Then there's something more I can't put my finger on... some grassiness & a little pepper? I need more time with this but overall, I think I quite like it.Probably one of my favorites out of my stash of samples so far.

ChainWhip
Tried the Suerte Anejo and it was saltier than I thought it'd be - will need to revisit this one again soon.

Do any of you have any thoughts on it?It's one of the most bourbon tasting tequilas that I've ever had. It tastes good, but it doesn't taste like tequila. It's been distilled 5 times, so most of the agave flavor has been removed by that process. With that said, I also think that it's probably overpriced by $10-15. bigtoys
I'm down in Cabo. Picked up a bottle of Pura Vida that we're drinking here and a 7 leguas añejo the other night. Got some other stuff but the name escapes me now.

Got some other stuff but the name escapes me now.I thought that Pura Vida was probably a US only release. It's part owned by Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top). The distillery (1414) is the best in the business. You've made two wise choices. Salud!

Max Power
The buy got me inspired. Drinking some 7 Leguas Reposado tonight. Dollar for dollar, 7 Legs is about as good a pour that there is out there right now. $40 for the repo and it's balanced and fantastic.

Max Power
I'm kicking myself for forgetting to add some to my last Hi Time order. It is occasionally around at Binny's but never seems to be in stock when I look for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk7L will at least be around for a while. It's not like the bourbon world where you need to be at the store for the 15 minutes that it's on the shelf.
