Caramel Bars

2 cups flour

2 cups oatmeal

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1 1/2 cups margarine ( melted)

Mix and press 1/2 of mixture into a 9x13 pan. Bake 10 minutes @ 350 degrees

Sprinkle over crust:

2 cups chocolate chips

1 cup chopped pecans

Mix 1 1/2 cups caramel topping (for ice cream) with 6 Tbsp flour and drizzle over the chocolate chips and pecans

Top with remaining half of oatmeal crumbs

Bake at 350 for 20 minutes

Enjoy!!!!!!

Dawn, I'd like to try this, but I am having a little trouble understanding it.

What is the "caramel topping"? Is it the stuff you give the recipe for at the top? Or do you mean some caramel topping you would buy in a store?

Dawn, thanks for sharing. I showed it to Jen yesterday and we are going to make some for the weekend.

I assume one could drizzle bourbon over the top if one desired?:grin:

The Caramel topping is the stuff you buy in a jar to pour over ice cream. It will take a whole jar of it. You mix it with flour to thicken it so it's not so runny in your bars.

To take up less space, I didn't make an ingredient list ......does it make sense now?

Hint: when you put the second half of the oatmeal mixture on top....you have to try to leave crumbles eavenly across the top. Crush small amounts of it between your fingers to cover the top. Try not to drop big "blobs" like my daughter did when she helped.
