shoshani
...but a paper shelf-talker label is a cheap way to trigger Whiskeyrexia Nervosa...Binny's has already taken it off their website. I'm not even sure I'm going to concern myself with it anymore, because who knows when the next allotment will be. There's plenty of Rare Breed around if I want to spend $40, and if I want to spend $25 there's even more OGD 114.
cas
I picked up a bottle this past weekend. I like it a lot. The higher proof gives it a richness the 90 proof lacks. Craig
ethangsmith
I'm hoping the new Rare Breed is good. I love the current stuff!
Bluffhunter
I seen Russells Reserve Single Barrel new on the shelf at the store for $41.99; any comments on this new stuff? Worth the price or no better then Rare Breed which I get for $37.99?

HighInTheMtns
Yes, people have tried it; maybe try searching, there are already other threads here about this bottling. For example, this one has 104 posts in it. There are others as well, and mentions of RRSB in other threads. WAINWRIGHT
I personally am quite disappointed with the new RRSB,I find it arid and a bit one note.I was hoping to find a lot of underlying sweetness to balance the oak and char which I did not.I would have to say WTRB is still the best offering in their current lineup which is a let down to say the least. A couple of $29 current RB and one '95 dusty should keep me good till they get it right. And you nail it. The pinnacle of Turkey is when the oak and char still has that balance of sweet...including the classic vanilla and caramel that is so there, in the original RR 101. qman22
I let my curiosity get the best of me and I purchased a bottle of this. Just came in today, so I had my 1st taste this evening. I am actually taken aback by its mediocrity. It is thin for a barrel proof and lacked complexity. My advice to anyone thinking of trying this is DON'T. I am going to try vatting this to get some use out of it...
bad_scientist
Do not like. It tastes almost identical to the RR10 90 but with more heat, without any more complexity. Blah. I have no idea what c2walker and others see in this one. Edited April 20, 2013 by bad_scientist

ethangsmith
Just bought my bottle today. I'll post notes in a little while. I don't know nor care what other reviewers have had to say so far about this product. I'm going to approach it unbiased and see where it leads me. ethangsmith
Ok, had some time for a pour. I compared it to my Rare Breed and RR10/90 I have. This is certainly it's own entity. It's almost as if someone mixed the Rare Breed and RR10/90 together. Keeping in mind this is a single barrel product, the bottle I have isn't too bad. I can see where some people think it's "thin," but I don't think it's that bad nor hurts it at all. This is still full-bodied Wild Turkey. The Single Barrel does not have the strong butterscotch/leather notes of the RR10/90, but it is still there, nor does it have the strong tobacco and "piney, earthy" flavor of the Rare Breed, but it's still there. The difference in profile I attribute to not only the single barrel, but possibly also the no chill filtering. So what is this? What do I taste? It has a mild earthy, tobacco and leather flavor and the traditional flavor of Wild Turkey, but it's lighter in some aspects, but more robust in the alcohol proof and punch. It's Russell's Reserve dressed in a nice suit and tie, but it's also wearing boxing gloves. All in all, a nice drink and something I'll probably keep around.
