MrAtomic
Instead of pondering for too long, I just decided to open up the Auxillary Opened-Bottle Bunker B-3a, close my eyes, reach waaaaaay in the back, and pull out the first thing that hit my fingies....And to my delight, out came an Old Ezra 7yr 101. I feel luckier than Jack Horner.Oooh,Is it an Owensboro bottle? Either way, a very nice pick. But I'd do things -- dark, dark things -- for a few more bottles of the older stuff. It's so full of butterscotch and syrupy goodness. I'm enjoying a current bottling at the moment, and it's plenty enjoyable, too.

SFS
My first ever taste of OFBB (2008). Damn interesting pour, prefaced of course with a nose that just won't quit.Bonus: My GF likes it too, and there aren't many bourbons she will drink. MyOldKyDram
Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7 yr from TPS. More like a rye than a bourbon and I mean that in a good way. Quite possibly (sure I'm forgetting something) the best LDI product I've had. Very tasty stuff.

Damn interesting pour, prefaced of course with a nose that just won't quit.Bonus: My GF likes it too, and there aren't many bourbons she will drink. As I said elsewhere I like that one a lot! I have two bottles squirreled away, and that's hoarding by my standards.I think the OFBBs (and the EWSBs) benefit greatly from the use of glencairn or snifter glasses. As you said the nose is great, and that kind of glassware really enhances it.
SFS
Agreed. I've really enjoyed my Glencairns since they arrived last week. Sometime I miss the weight of the heavier square tumbler that use to be my bourbon glass, but the Glencairns really add to my experience each pour. I think I may have left one on a shelf around here...
SFS
That's the perfect word to put in front of "vanilla", it is very broadly vanilla. At first I couldn't identify it, then decided it HAD to be termed vanilla, but it was so broad, not focused like vanilla bean, with those wonderful aromatics. But the nose really is sweet. I thought briefly of an almond liqueur, or hazelnut maybe, but finally settled on vanilla - broad vanilla.

IowaJeff
I cracked open a bottle of the EH Taylor Single Barrel, from Binny's. I don't get a lot on the nose right now, but often don't when I first open a bottle. I like the flavor and finish a lot though. Very bold and spicy up front, followed by just the right amount of sweet. Kind of like a distant cousin to Wild Turkey. I don't know how old it is, but I get the impression that a few more years and it may lose something to the oak.
Phil T
Doing a side by side tonight. Standard OWA and OWA TPS SB. While both are excellent pours, the TPS is a little sweeter and more caramelly. Jay knocked it out of the park with this one. And only $20.99 for a 750ml. That's just crazy shit cheap.Anyone want to split a case? Edited January 16, 2013 by Phil T
tanstaafl2
Sharing a bit of Angels Envy regular and cask strength (along with a flight of single pot still Irish whiskies, Green Spot, Yellow Spot and Powers John's Lane) this afternoon with the owner of one of my local liquor stores. He is a nice guy and a little good will never hurts!
MauiSon
Blanton's Original. It's good, but today I picked up on some vegetal flavors that remind me of Beam - hope that goes away soon. Finish has a slight tinge of 9v battery to it, too. Edited January 17, 2013 by MauiSon
