Getting things together before a busy week ahead, with a rock solid pour of KBS 2010 Selection of 1792. Barton, nearly at its best. Barton's best is just a dream...A fantasy of this whiskey with a few more Summers in Warehouse Z, bottled at Barrel Proof, and taking its place in a long tall bottle within the BTAC....A man can dream, can't he?!?!?

Sipping on a little WL Weller 12. I recently decided to open my bottle of FRSB, so it'll be nice to compare. FRSB was different than anything I have tasted so far.

Hirsch 16, followed by 4R 120th Anniversary, then Rathskellar rye 14/138, and tied up with a PHC 1st edition 1st dump, from a bottle signed by Parker Beam himself. For the nose, the 4R 120 won it, the Hirsch 16 for flavour, mouthfeel and complexity, but the PHC had balance that left the finish resonating forever. For my money though the Rathskellar Rye was the real standout. Upon a lot of watering down I found many notes that reminded of the VWFRR, but less sweet and with clean oak note that reminds of the Hirsch 22 rye, though most of this pour was savored neat and delicious before the waterdropper was broken out.

I'm in DC for the weekend and decided to drop into Bourbon tonight in the Adams Morgan section of the city. I figured that early on a Sunday night would be a good time to get some alone time in front of an impressive collection. The night did not disappoint. While the actual selection did not correspond exactly with the online menu, there was still plenty to impress, though I left wishing I had tasted everything behind that bar. The William Heavenhill is still calling my name as I nurse this OGD BiB before bed.

Rain and sleet are coming down hard which calls for a winter warmer--2008 GTS and maybe some '08 WLW to follow.

Had three small pours last night. 2002 EWSB, Maker's 46 and Larceny.

This was my second pour from this EWSB, and it still isn't doing anything for me. Not likely to be a regular purchase or pour for me.

Maker's 46 is still solid, definitely more interesting than the regular Maker's, and a decent buy at $32.

Larceny has opened up nicely after being open for a few weeks, and certainly has a place in my rotation.

Woodford Reserve, I used to really like this but since I have expanded my bourbon horizons, I reach for this one less than I used to. Followed it with a Taylor Tornado, a fairly unique pour. Stopped in my local and they were test marketing a new Jameson's black label Irish, nice but pales by comparison to Bushmill's Black Bush.

Quick question: I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a VSOF 12 the other night, but I don't really know too much about it. It was $31 at the local store. I tried to look at the BOTM post about it, but it was from 2009. Can someone tell me whether this is a "yay" or a "nay"?

I'll throw in for some BT stock and we'll have quite the portfolio. Plus, the profits posted directly from Squire's Barton purchases will fund the Beam and BT stock grabs, no out of pocket money needed.

Finished off a family size Larceny. With the $20 rebate, a 1.75 for $20 is a no brainer. Not overly complex, but definitely an easy drinker. Since we know that HH is very capable of producing a quality wheater (Larceny and PHC), and Larceny is a meld of 6-12yr whiskey, lets see a 10/12yr Larceny unfiltered and uncut. HELL YEA!!
