bingstein
First ever full pour of 2012 FRLE SmB... Whoa. Really upset I wasted so much time and effort (and money, of course) getting caught up in the PVW craze this fall and overlooked this selection. Won't make that mistake next year. MyOldKyDram
Aww come on please make that mistake one more year?! Don't need any more competition in this city. :smiley_acbt:
bingstein
Agreed but Pappy season will send everyone off the scent of the other stuff. My other mistake was blowing through my bottle of GTS in a month and having to wait another 11 to get more :hot:

dementedavenger
Willett Family Estate 5-Year Old Rye, Smooth Ambler Old Scout 7-Year Bourbon and GTS 2011 while listening to "Hang on to a Dream" (collection) by Tim Hardin and "Mighty Joe Moon" by Grant Lee Buffalo. Friday night from about 7:30-9:00 has, without verbal recognition, become "The Quiet Period". Following my 2.5 year-old son's dinner and bath (my wife proctors dinner, I do the bath), my wife reads to him and tucks him in while I repair to my office to drink bourbon neat, listen to music and surf the Interwebs. My wife, meanwhile, repairs to our bedroom to surf on her iPhone and catch up on the day's news (tonight she's emailing me birthday gift suggestions). Around 9:00 PM she'll come downstairs, we'll figure out something for dinner, pour some drinks (bourbon w/club soda for her, bourbon neat for me) and either chat or watch some TV ("Breaking Bad" via Roku these days) or a movie. The whiskey stayed safe in mah belly!Didn't have any American libations tonight though (Mexican & Canadian spirits were calling me).
tanstaafl2
KC as the base for my at home attempt at the Spanish Harlem cocktail. Good but not as good as the restaurant. Using a different bourbon and a different PX sherry and it has been open a while although it tastes fine on its own. Trying to find the sherry used by the restaurant which seemed even richer that the Alvear PX I have but maybe this drink would also do better with an 80 proof bourbon like was used at the restaurant (a well brand called Bourbon Club? Not familiar with it) instead of 100 proof like KC.
squire
That looks good, I plan to work on using more sherry in cocktails.

dementedavenger
JPS18, Batch #13. It's growing on me. I bought this back at the beginning of November and I've had 3-4 pours prior to tonight. This is the first time it's impressed me on the palate.

shoshani
Larceny. My first sip ever, just opened my first bottle.Much to my surprise, I am underimpressed. I have a feeling that a little oxidation will do this one some good; first pour out of the bottle, it tastes as though they went for all the sweetness with none of the complexity. I have a feeling it will develop in time. Too many people have said too many good things about Larceny for me to dismiss it out of hand.

JPBoston
Brought my flask filled with 50/50 SB Blend to a dinner with friends (first use of my xmas present flask!). After they offered some drinks (I went with some Jameson's neat) I busted out the flask and poured the bourbon into my cup. They thought it was pretty funny, they were drinking grapefruit flavored vodka and soda water, and I was drinking bourbon neat.
